ENTRY:
Students must undertake Unit 3 prior to undertaking Unit 4.
Units 1 to 4 are designed to a standard equivalent to the final two years of schooling
ATTENDANCE:
You need to attend 80% of classes to get an ‘S’ for the Unit
You need to present a doctor ’s certificate if you;
- are absent for a SAC
- are absent for two classes in a row
DURATION:
Each unit involves at least 50 hours of scheduled classroom instruction
• Schools will report a result for each Unit to the Victorian
Curriculum and Assessment Authority as;
‘S’ (Satisfactory) or
‘N’ (Not Satisfactory)
• The award of satisfactory completion for a Unit is based on a decision that the student has demonstrated achievement of the set of outcomes specified for the unit.
• This decision will be based on the teacher ’s assessment of the student ’s overall performance on assessment tasks designated for the unit.
• For each unit students are required to demonstrate achievement of two outcomes. As a set these outcomes encompass both areas of study.
• School-assessed coursework contributes 40% to the final mark

• Examination assesses all key knowledge from both Unit 3 and Unit 4 (except ‘Specific details related to the study of a specific mental disorder)
• The examination takes place during the
October/November exam period (exact date yet to be published by the VCAA)
• Duration of the exam is 2.5 hours
• Examination mark contributes 60% to the final mark
