CincyDomino’s John Glass
Domino’s franchisee John Glass has been doing it right for more than 30 years. That has always
been his goal, from the days back in the early 1980s when he began delivering Domino’s pizzas
in Wilmington, Ohio to today, as the owner of 25 Domino’s locations in the Greater Cincinnati
area.
“I grew up with the company, going from driver to store manager, to regional manager to vice
president of operations over 39 stores, all in a span of seven years. I made and delivered my first
pizza when there were less than 300 stores. Now we have over 10,000,” he said. “It was my firm
belief in Domino’s that led to me purchasing my first store on Glenmore Avenue in Cincinnati in
1996.”
Domino’s corporate boasts the amazing statistic that 90% of franchisees started out as Domino’s
drivers, just as John did. But his franchise is one of the fastest growing and is already in the top
25 out of almost 1000 franchises.
Things were not all rosy from the start. John’s first store on Cincinnati’s west side, was not doing
well. In the first year sales were up 84% and it was second fastest growing Dominos store in the
United States. Not only did John turn around that store, he also mentored his first driver who
now owns his own Dominos in Harrison, Ohio.
“Now that’s what makes it fun,” he said. And it is still fun. We love to promote internally and
love to see our team grow and advance.”
The success of his first store led John on a quest to buy more. And over the next several years, he
added to his corral of stores all while maintaining his expectations of excellence at each one.
“All of my Teams have to know that the goal is delicious food with perfect customer service,” he
said. “We all have to do it right every time.”
So, beginning in 1998 with the purchase of another store in Delhi, and through 2012, John
purchased stores in:

In 2010 Domino’s took the bold move of acknowledging that their pizza could use some
improvements. They rolled out the New and Inspired Pizza, revamping their product.
“No one knew what a positive impact that would make on business,” he said “It changed our
world!”
John and his wife Janie, who married in 1983, have been running the business together all these
years. They own 100% of the business and have never had any business partners. That makes
them a little different than most franchise groups.
“We depend on our faith and each other,” said John. “And that has worked out well for us.”
John, an avid University of Cincinnati fan, always wanted to own his own business and enjoy life
at the same time. He admits that he sleeps very little but still spends quality time with his
children Heather and Jonathan (they are an active part in running the business now), as well as
his church.
He also is a fan of schools throughout the area, and non profits such as Down Syndrome of
Greater Cincinnati, The Point Arc of NKY, Kicks for Kids, St. Jude Children's Research
Hospital and the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
The Glass family has no plans to slow down. In fact, they hope to have 50 stores in the next five
years. And John’s investment in Domino’s carries over to the national level as he serve on the
Domino's Franchise Associations Board of Directors, the Midwest Region Franchise Advisory
Board and DMA President.
With more than 30 years of successes with Domino’s Pizza and as owner of CincyDomino’s a 25
store franchisee, John Glass has always kept his eye on his goal.
“I just want to be remembered for doing things the right way, both moral and ethical” he said.
“That has always been my plan.”
The company mission statement reflects this commitment: To be a team of dedicated
professionals focusing on attaining goals by creating opportunities and achieving them in a moral
and ethical manner.
