13, 2014 Minutes based on the recommendation of the Minutes Review Committee. Motion was

Review of Agenda
Morgan Huffaker reviewed the Fall 2014 Executive Council Meeting Agenda. Agenda was approved.
Financial Report
Coalton Hostetler reviewed the 2014 – 2015 Financial Report. As of October 23, 2014, Colorado
FCCLA has total expenditures of the $118,547.89 and income of $106,542.25. The account balance
for FCCLA is $38,172.22, which takes in account the $9,823.93 in encumbered expenses and
$18,899.05 in accounts receivable.

Policies and Procedures Committee Report
Renee Root reviewed the Policies and Procedures Committee Report that included:


Alumni and Associates Committee Report
Brooklyn Buhre reviewed the Alumni and Associates Committee Report that included:
 Invite alumni to judge at state conference
 Create a scholarship for college freshmen who were alumni for members at Emily Griffith,
Johnson & Wales University and Colorado State University
 State Officer Alumni Reception at Doubletree Denver on April 9, 2015 at 7pm
 Add Colorado State University to list of Postsecondary eligible chapters
 Change alumni dues from $25.00 to $15.00 for graduating seniors
 Host conference for Postsecondary division on April 9, 2015 April 17, 2015 at Doubletree

Robert Van Dyke MOVED to AMEND the Alumni and Associates Committee Report by changing the
date of the Postsecondary conference to April 17, 2015. Motion was seconded. Motion was

Officer Selection Committee Report
Jaquelyn Reyes reviewed the Officer Selection Committee Report that included:
 Add state officer meet and greet to selection process
o Candidates at the VIP party and will wear polos/ uniforms to designate them
o Will be available to answers questions
 Selection coordinators will provide the state adviser with feedback on officers after selection
 The Group Interview will be written by the selection committee at conference

Lynn Zemanek MOVED to AMEND the Officer Selection Committee Report to change the meet and
greet to the end of the Business Meeting with no ranking of candidates by the voting delegates.

Paulyna Alcorn reviewed the Middle School Committee Report that included:
 Advisers needing assistance

Bylaws Committee Report did not have any business to report.
National Programs Committee Report
Sierra Edgar reviewed the National Programs Committee Report that included:
 Get paperwork for Power of One to advisers
 Advisers need to know how to integrate the National Programs into different curriculums.
 Advisers would still like a link with just the overview of National Programs and what
qualifications a student must reach to get recognized at state. An email will be sent out to all
advisers so they can easily access the links.
 A video will be made to be shown to the members about the VIP Party and how to get in and
how fun it will be.
 A generic application will be made that advisers can use to track a members progress at the
chapter level before sending these to state.

Kalee Hollingsworth reviewed the National Leadership Conference Committee Report that
included:
 Not to continue the State Tour option but recommend it for chapters
 Trading Pins Competition
o Will be created and released at 2015 State Conference
o Votes will be decided by polleverywhere.com at State Conference
o Yearly competition
o State Adviser will send an email about pin competition with rules and deadlines
 State officers will be required to attend sessions decided by state office as state office pays
registration fees.
 Black polo with red Colorado only in FCCLA Font letters
 Add Weekly Metro Pass ($35-40) to individual cost for Washington, DC only

 Natasha and Alayna will create an online “how-to” tool kit for No Kid Hungry using their
website.

Kalee Hollingsworth reviewed the Recognition and Scholarship Committee Report that included:
 Chapter of Excellence Award
o Chapters apply every year

o Chapters start on August 1st to March 1st
o Become live in 2015-2016 school year
o Have to accomplish a certain number of things such as spirit stick, fall conference, and
district conference.
 Create a 10 Year Partnership Award to celebrate 10 year anniversary of partnership

Finance Committee Report
Coalton Hostetler reviewed the Finance Committee Report that included:
 Reinvest CD ($15,000) when expires in 2015
 Work up to $50,000 than consider adding back

STAR and Colorado Events Committee Report
Natasha Breakall reviewed the STAR and Colorado Events Committee Report that included:
 The goal is to get the “How to get your gold” STAR event guide out to advisors by November
21st. The document will be available through Google Docs so that it can continue to be added
upon.
 Add a zero column to the Colorado competitive events rubric and shift the other points across
the column accordingly.
 In the Baking and Pastry rubric and Front Of The House rubric, section is listed as personal
appearance and it is recommended this is edited to state Personal Appearance/sanitation as it
is included on the gourmet food presentation rubric.
 Add phrase in Front Of The House rubric; to read as: “Accurately set a dining room table for two
people for a four course meal (soup, salad, entrée, and desert, including bread, using one
napkin- style fold for the table of two.) For clarification, it originally did not state to include
bread.
 It is recommended that a committee be formed to re-edit the Colorado FCCLA competitive
events handbook for the 2015-2016 year to make the rubrics more specific with quantitative
details and upon feedback after this year’s SLC.
o Create a committee formed of four individuals appointed by state advisor and state
president to edit the Colorado FCCLA competitive events handbook for the 2015-2016
year.
Sarah Davis MOVED to vote the STAR and Colorado Events Committee Report in seriatim with the
How To Get Your Gold being one section, Adding Zero Column being one section, Colorado Event
Changes being one section, and the Review Committee being one section. Motion was seconded.

State Conference Committee Report
Paulyna Alcorn reviewed the State Conference Committee Report that included:
 Johnson & Wales University can only house Culinary Arts and Baking and Pastry this year
o All other Food Events at the Renaissance
 No food trucks (Friday lunch)
 Add Hot food stations at hotel for $8-10 a meal
 Doubletree Denver Hotel used as overflow hotel for 2015
o Shuttles every 30 minutes
o Schedule posted at both hotelso 1st come, 1st serve registration (topped at 25 rooms)
 Digital schedule available on smart phones or Facebook
 New National Program and Event certificate design approved
 Adviser meeting moved to 1:30
 Friday night schedule
o 6-6:30 Awards (semiformal, business casual)
o 6:45-8:15 Banquet
 Districts assigned to rooms

DISTRICT CONSULTANTS REPORTS
Arkansas Valley
No report was given.
Mountain Shadows
Debbie Nelson and Nicole Wray reviewed the Mountain View District Report that included:
 The conference theme was “Iconic Images of Mountain Shadows.” We were honored to have as
our special guests the Colorado FCCLA State President, Kayelani Kirschbaum, Colorado FCCLA
State VP-Recognition, Kalee Hollingsworth, Colorado FCCLA State Adviser, Rob Van Dyke, Mrs.
Kirschbaum, Jeffco CTE Director, Sarah Heath and for a bit, Jeffco superintendent, Dan
McMinimee.
 The district officers each chose an iconic image and quote, then imitated the iconic image in a
photo, which was used for the officer introductions. The keynote speaker was Dr. Sarah Heath,
ACTE national president. She spoke about how FCCLA can help develop your leadership skills
and benefit your future career, no matter what that career might be. After the keynote, there
were three rotations of round tables. Attendees had 15 round table topics from which to
choose. There was a special track for Teacher Cadets. One round table was specifically for
middle school – North Arvada Middle School presented “STAR Events for Middle School.”
Columbine, Golden and Lakewood did round tables about the FCCLA national programs
highlighted in the state POW. Other round tables were presented by Kayelani, Kalee, district
officers and a student from Jefferson HS.
 Everyone came back together for the Closing Ceremony. Awards were presented to Pomona HS
for best nametags, Evergreen Middle for most food items brought (300) and Pomona HS for the
CPR award (courteous, professional, respectful). Door prizes were distributed in a drawing.
We heard from Jill Messinger of The Action Center – they were the recipients of the 536 food
items collected in the Mtn Shadows District Community Service Project.
Mountain View

Northeastern Plains
Angela DePue reviewed the Northeastern Plains District Report that included:
 Fall conference was Oct 15th in Holyoke and the Phillips County Event Center
o Leadership Service in Action was the National Program focused on this year.

NEP District held a Move-A-Thon and pledges were received from local businesses or
from chapter members and the money raised during the Move-A-Thon was donated to
Share Our Strength!
o Throughout the day, the 300+ students traveled through 9 different stations from
Balloon Sumo, Simon-Says, Zumba, and many other fun and engaging stations!
o Each station would mark a “BINGO” if the student participated and then they also gave
extra marks for above and beyond effort!
o A healthy snack of apples, oranges and granola bars helped to get the students satisfied
until a delicious lunch of Subway. Each student was exhausted by the end of the fun
Move-A-Thon!
o A total of approximately $1400 was raised and donated to Share Our Strength!!
o Overall, it was an incredible Fall Conference and the impact that the students made was
something that they were all very excited about!
Winter Conference - Jan 28, 2015 – will be held at Northeastern Junior College – a combination
of round tables, officer elections, and state preparation topics and it will be a workshop format
with cohesive theme and guest speakers plus multimedia.

Linda Motz reviewed the Scenic Country District Report that included:
 Attended the CTE Conference at Colorado Mesa University on October 13, 2014. The conference
was put on by TRI Leadership Resources in collaboration with Colorado FBLA. The keynote

speaker was Bill Cordes and the other presenters were Hayley Henderson and Curtis Haley.
