The scholarship contest consists of two parts: Part I (Personal) consists of the student describing how he/she has tried to manifest the qualities of a good citizen. This part may be completed at home and is to be submitted together with a copy of an official transcript and two letters of recommendation. Part II (Essay) is to be administer under the supervision of a faculty or DAR member. Materials must be submitted by November 15th, 2013 The Bank of America Charitable Foundation’s Student Leaders Program This program is for 11th and 12th Grade students. The program helps students gain a greater understanding of how nonprofits create impact in the community and helps develop them as the next generation leaders through two components: A summer eight-week paid internship with a nonprofit organization; and A week long, all-expense paid Student Leadership Summit in Washington, D.C. Explain why that person was successful and how his or her innovation is helpful to society. What characteristics of the innovator would you like to incorporate into your own life? Application Deadline: October 18, 2013 The 2014 American Legion High School Oratorical Scholarship Program Eligible participants should be American Citizens. Students must be enrolled in high school during the time of participation at any level of the contest (9th -12th Grade). The prepared oration must be on some aspect of the Constitution of the United States with emphasis on the duties and obligations of a citizen to our government. Local contests for each local American Legion Post must begin after November 2 nd, 2013, and must be completed by December 20, 2013.
