Hagelin, Rebecca. "Nixing the Choice of Video Game Violence." The Washington Post 7
Jan. 2013: 5. Print.
This source is an article from The Washington Times DC. The main idea of this
article is to help understand that violence in this world is not caused by video
games. This source compares letting your children eat donuts for breakfast, lunch
and dinner, to letting them play whatever video games they would like. This
source is credible because it is an article from the Newspaper The Washington
Times DC. This source is credible is because the author Rebecca Hagelin speaks
around the nation educating parents about media culture and their children. This
article comes from her weekly column in The Washington Times. I will use this
source to help me understand and compare video game violence to real life
events.
Collier, Joel E., Pearson Liddell, Jr., and Gloria J. Liddell. "Exposure of Violent Video
Games to Children and Public Policy Implications." Journal of Public Policy &
Marketing 27.1 (2008): 107-12. Print.
The main idea of this source is the ongoing controversy on violent video games
and minors playing them. This article talks about how denying minors the choice
to play mature video games is taking away our first amendment rights. This
Kisner 2
source talks about some recommendations and alternative methods to solve the
violent video games and minors problem. This source is credible because it is an
article from the Journal of Public Policy and Marketing. Another reason why this
source is credible is because it is peer-reviewed and available through the
University Library. I will use this source to help prove that the exposure of violent
video games to minors does not mean they will become criminals and think the
video games are real life.
Ulanoff, Lance. "Violent Video Games: Our Responsibility, Not the Courts." PC
Magazine Dec. 2010: n. pag. Internet and Personal Computing Abstracts. Web.
The main idea of this article is a man talking about how his has been playing
violent video games since he was young and knows the difference between the
video game violence and real life. In his article he talks about how after he plays
the violent video games, he goes back to normal life and does not act violent in
real life. This source is a credible source because it is published in the PC
magazine and is found on the University’s Library website. I will use this source
to help my argument that minors playing violent video games do not cause
children to actually become violent outside the video game. I will use this source
to help prove that teenagers and younger children know the difference between
video games and real life and will not try to act out in violence.
Gallagher, Michael D. "Should It Be Illegal for Kids to Buy Violent Video Games? NO."
US Digital Weekly 28 May 2010: n. pag. Business Source Complete. Web. 9 Oct. 2013.
The main idea of this article is that there is not enough scientific evidence that
violent video games cause minors to act out in violence. The author talks about
Kisner 3
how the parents should be the ones who decide whether their children can play
violent video games as a minor, not the Supreme Court. This article is a credible
source for me to use because I found it on the University’s library website.
Another reason why this source is credible is because it is an article in the US
Digital Weekly online database. The Author affiliations are President and CEO,
Entertainment and Software Association. I will use this source because it will help
me prove, with evidence that there is not enough scientific evidence that violent
video games cause violence in real life. This article is helpful because it helps me
argue that parents should be the ones to decide and tell their children video games
are not real and you can’t do that in real life.
Ivory, Adrianne H., and Christine E. Kaestle. "The Effects of Profanity in Violent Video
Games on Players' Hostile Expectations, Aggressive Thoughts and Feelings, and
Other Responses." Journal of Broadcasting & Electronic Media 57.2 (2013): 22441. Web.
The main idea of this source is to counteract my argument that violence in video
games causes violent acts and moods. This article is about the amount of research
that has been done about violent video games. This source is a credible source for
me to use because it is an article in the Journal of Broadcasting and Electronic
Media. This source was published in 2013, which means it is very recent and up
to date. This article is also credible because you can access it on the TAMUCC
library article research page. I will use this article to boost my credibility. I will
use this article to show that I understand and recognize the other side to my
Kisner 4
argument. I will use this source to help me understand what I am arguing and see
the other side.

credibility showing the other side to my argument. I will also use this source to
understand what effects come out of violent video games.
