General introduction of Drawing Software AutoCAD 2014 This section covers the introduction of interface operating software AutoCAD 2014. Through the introduction, students will have a clear understanding how AutoCAD helps them to express their idea in an engineering way. Basic 2D drawing commands This section introduces basic 2D drawing commands and shortcuts which helps students to work with AutoCAD efficiently. Also, student will be able to draw an advanced drawing via those commands independently such as a mechanical component. Architectural drawing (Floor plan) This section focus on the procedure of drawing 2D architectural drawing with basic commands taught previously. After training, students are able to interpret the drawing and draft them independently. Printing This section explains how we set up printing area and present a professional drawing layout. 4.3 1. 2. 3. 4. 4.4 Aims of the Course Helps students to understand the basic drawing commands and how to apply them into drafting. Understand how to create and insert Block. Understand 2D architectural drawing process. Understand printing setup for drawing. Student learning outcomes At the conclusion of this course the student will be able to: 1. Navigate and execute AutoCAD. 4 Jorico Course Outline Template - Oct 2014 2. 3. 4. 5. 4.5 Acquire the skills of drafting via AutoCAD. Complete more advanced 2D drawings for a wide variety of drafting disciplines. Create accurate drawing plans to help you in procurement management. Successfully manage your projects as an interior stylist/designer that supports your concept boards and 3D renderings. Course syllabus 1. Introduction Understand screen or environment of Autocad 2. Drawing&template Prepare you own template Set the units and limits How to protect work if Autocad crashes Other Autocad setting Object selection techniques How to start a new drawing and rename it How to save in an older version 3. Drawing basic Snap,Grid,Ortho,Polar tracking,Object snap,Object snap tracking and Dynamic input Eg: Draw a desk 4. Commands Polyline, rectangle, circle, donut, arc, ellipse Move, copy, mirror Array, rotate, stretch Offset, trim, extend 5. Using Blocks Create, insert, use blocks Palettes&Layers Create, modify, freeze and work with layers Modifying blocks&design center Modify existing blocks with block editor 6. Annotation Introduction Use of text, dimensions, leaders, symbols Create text, dimensions, multileader styles How to calculate properly scale factors How to determine the appropriate text height for annotation 5 Jorico Course Outline Template - Oct 2014 Advantage How to modify existing ones How to create a new one 7. Print, create viewpoints, adjust the plotting setting 4.6 Future suggestion The students will be encouraged to develop the following future Attributes by undertaking the selected activities and knowledge content. The suggest attributes. At the conclusion of this course the student will be able to: Understand the drawing structure and find out the grids and primary elements in the drawing. Draft construction plan with proper details which meet Australian Standards. Be able to use basic 2D commands to draw plans, elevations, sections and details as presentation designs. Draw construction plans that communicate to technicians and clients. 6 Jorico Course Outline Template - Oct 2014 5. Soft skill : This course is included to enable students to develop particular communications skills that will enhance their practice as a (. . XXX). It reflects my position that their practice within the field will require advanced levels of communication to enable ongoing development (. . XXX). 6. Teaching strategies 1. Using projector for teaching and practicing at the same time. 2. Drawings from existing project will be presented on class. 3. Once the drawing command has been taught, adopt a practice to strengthen memory. 7. Assessment / Achievement All assessment will be conducted in class. Every introduction of basic commands comes with a practice that helps to strengthen memory and understand how to use these commands. Furthermore, the Australian Drafting Standards will be introduced and students will achieve a standardized architectural drawing at the end of class.
