BOOKS FOR MY CLASSES Prof. Pam Brown, Economics – Pierce College Below are the Study Guide & Textbook titles. Before you buy them, PLEASE READ BELOW!!! STUDY GUIDE IS REQUIRED All students – regular, Online and honors - are REQUIRED to purchase the Study Guide. The S.G. Title & Author are shown below. YOU MUST BUY THIS STUDY GUIDE, IN THE 6TH EDITION. DO NOT BUY AN OLD EDITION OF THE STUDY GUIDE! FOR ECON 1 (Microeconomics), STUDY GUIDE is: “Study Guide for Mankiw's Principles of Microeconomics,” David R. Hakes (author). Paperback (lime green), 6th edition, South-Western College Publishers (2011). FOR ECON 2 (Macroeconomics), STUDY GUIDE is: “Study Guide for Mankiw's Principles of Macroeconomics,” David R. Hakes (author). Paperback (dark orange), 6th edition, South-Western College Publishers (2011). You can buy the Study Guide at the Pierce bookstore for a low price. Or, if you want to buy the SG through Amazon (or another website), that’s fine too. TEXTBOOK IS OPTIONAL You do not have to buy the Textbook that goes with the Study Guide I’ve assigned. The Textbook that goes with the Study Guide is incredibly good, but it is expensive. I will place several copies of texts ON RESERVE AT THE PIERCE COLLEGE LIBRARY for you to use during the semester. ANY POPULAR, USED TEXTBOOK with the title, “Principles of Microeconomics” (for Econ1) or “Principles of Macroeconomics” for (Econ 2) would be fine text to purchase for this course. So if you would like outside reading for our class, you are welcome to purchase ANY USED PRINCIPLES OF MICRO OR MACRO TEXTBOOK, SUCH AS THE 3RD or 4TH EDITION (OLD EDITIONS) OF N. GREG MANKIW’S TEXTS. Again, a textbook purchase is not required for this course, but it would be very helpful to have, if you are a Business Major who plans to transfer to CSUN where you will be required to take additional upper-division Econ courses!
