Procedures/Activities:
1. Teacher Preparation: Student will create on outline from scratch using the information in Assignment #1. You will
need to make copies for each student. Review Teacher Information #1, taken from:
https://www.gpc.edu/oit/sites/default/files/its/handouts/word/word2010_outlining.pdf. Students will only utilize the
first method in creating outlines.
2. Class Discussion: As students walk in, have the following questions posted on the board: What is an outline? Why do
some teachers require that you create an outline of a report? Have students pair and share.
An outline is an overview of what it written in a document, whether it be a report, essay, speech, etc. Teachers require it
to help you organize and plan content. Word helps in reorganizing what you’ve already written and gives the teacher or
reader a sequence of information to go by.
3. Class Assignment: Pass out Assignment #1. Have students type the information as shown on the document. Open the
document, Teacher Information #1. Display it through the projector. Have students follow you to create an outline from
their assignment sheet. When finished, students will need to save the document as Outline.
4. Student Activity: Have students print the outline and upload the outline to their Kuder accounts. All documents should
now be added as completed. A key is provided on page 3 of Teacher Information #1.
Assessment:
