• Principle aim gain understanding of the sport sector by applying theory to practical situations
• No exam, completely course work based.
• Delivered over four and a half lessons a week.
Four core units:
• Unit 1- Principles of Anatomy and Physiology
• Unit 2- The Physiology of Fitness
• Unit 3- Assessing Risk in Sport
• Unit 7 – Fitness testing for Sport and Exercise
Plus three units to be chosen from topics such as sports coaching, fitness testing, sport psychology, sports nutrition and practical sport.
• Each unit assessed on evidence produced by candidate 100% coursework.
• Variety of ways evidence developed into a portfolio: presentations, role play, diary/log or projects.

What makes a good BTEC Sport
Student?
• Enthusiasm for all aspects of sport.
• GCSE PE or BTEC Sport Level 2 experience is an advantage but not necessarily essential.
• Well organised and able to meet deadlines.
• Enjoys coursework approach.
• An appreciation that BTEC Sport is not all about practical lessons. It is an academic subject and students will be expected to work as hard as in it as any other subject.

Coursework:
• Each section of your work will be given a deadline.
• Before the deadline, you will want to check your work and revise it according to the guidance given.
