He was criticized and agreed to include it if it could be found in a Greek manuscript. The additional words were found in Greek manuscript 61 of the 16th Century. Therefore, Erasmus kept his promise and inserted the inclusion in his 3rd edition of the Greek text. Soon after, Stephanus included it in his Greek text of A.D. 1550. This became the “Received Text” or also known as the “Textus Receptus”. The King James translators used Stephanus’ Greek text for their Bible and, thus, the words were included.
