Using an eponym helps your audience understand your reference. Be careful though, because if your reference is too well known it may come across as cliché! Examples: •Gary was an Abe Lincoln in yesterday’s debate. (Easily recognizable) &Agnivesha would have been proud of the patient’s recovery. (Only recognizable to someone in Hindu medicine) •Eponyms should be used sparingly, but with the right touch they can give a perfect finish to a piece. EX: He had the strength of Hercules, rather than He was a Hercules.
