Antigone – What’s on the Test ALL Greek Tragedy Notes/Terms (Greek play structure, important people, etc), including Greek Theater Layout Plot of the player, motives of characters, cause and effect Quote identification (who said it, why it matters)—For this, it is important to understand the characters very well so you can use context clues to identify the speaker. Know what loaded language is and be able to identify it Know what an aphorism is and be able to identify it Short essay on catharsis and anagnorisis (explain how an excerpt from the play illustrates a character’s anagnorisis and evokes catharsis) How to Study Use your study guide! Make sure you have answers to all of the questions we discussed and that you understand them. Review them and try to answer them w/o looking at the answers. Study Greek Tragedy notes/terms/people Review all characters in Antigone and what roles they serve in the play and their overall character. (i.e. What is the purpose of the Choragus? Chorus? How was Antigone described? Creon? Etc.) Flashcards are a great way to review all of these items—write a question, term, character, on the front, and then an answer on the back. You need to make sure you are testing yourself (before the test) to see what you know and don’t. Just reviewing answers will not help you determine what you have mastered. Good luck!
