• Considered leaving clinical medicine for job in
safety/pharmico-vigilence at Abbott
• Accepted new position on faculty at UIC

Changes in Personal Life 2010
• Began to rethink career that was heavily clinical
medicine
• Growing practice associated with increasing
paperwork, documentation and time requirements,
increasing regulatory demands
• Husband decided to semi-retire and wanted to have
more flexibility in schedule

• Accretive Health- Consulting Job- Chart reviews and
summaries, analyze admission criteria and admission
status
• Improved computer skills, data mining, learned
about business side of medicine
• Used clinical skills but no direct patient contact
