Undergraduate Admissions
Requirements
• In terms of educational preparation, the college preparatory
curriculum minimum unit requirements for regular admissions are
• 4 units of English
• 4 units of social sciences, including world history or a comparable
course
• 3 units of mathematics (must include algebra I, algebra II, and one
unit of either geometry, trigonometry, or calculus)
• 3 units of natural sciences, including two courses with lab
components
• 1 unit of foreign language
• 5 additional units of academic courses (We recommend courses in
fine arts or computer literacy, with additional courses in
mathematics, natural sciences, and foreign language.)
Degrees
• To be a neonatal nurse, a student must become a
registered nurse (RN) or a nurse-practitioner
(NP). A registered nurse is usually a graduate of a
4-year college or university, although some
community colleges offer specialized programs
designed to train registered nurses in 2 years.
These programs are often run in conjunction with
nearby hospitals to provide clinical experience for
the students. Some hospitals offer 3-year
programs to train and educate registered nurses.
A nurse-practitioner needs a master's degree in
addition to a 4-year degree.
Intended Major of Study
• I want to be a NICU nurse. I think that’s what I
would enjoy to do when I get out of college. I
plan to work either at UAB or Brookewood.
• I really think that’s my best choice I could have
to chose.

Student Enrollment
• Applicants with less than 24 semester hours
must submit official copies of their high-school
transcripts and either ACT or SAT scores.
Applicants who graduated from high school at
least four years prior to the date of anticipated
enrollment may be admitted to the University
without the ACT or SAT, provided their highschool grade point averages are 2.5 or higher on
a 4.0 scale. However, for placement purposes, the
ACT or SAT may be required of all students who
are enrolled.
Student Organizations
• An overview of the organization, personnel, and
practices of student affairs and related higher
education functions in U.S. colleges and
universities. The course is designed to increase
student understanding of how student services,
student activities, and student development tasks
are organized, administered, and assessed.
Students will explore the main issues, roles,
constituencies and expectations affecting
individual professionals as well as the profession
as a whole.
