ADMINISTRATIVE FACULTY JOB DESCRIPTION APPROVED POSITION INFORMATION (to be completed by HR) Effective: 2/1/2015 Title Manager, Wellness and Weight Management Clinic Essential Function: Light Work Range JCC PCN 3 67458 12156 Description: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Light work requires walking or standing to a significant degree and pushing and/or pulling. 1. The Manager, Wellness and Weight Management Clinic (WWMC), has administrative responsibility for all personnel and operations management in the Clinic including financial, facilities, equipment, public relations, and resources for faculty development for both the WWMC individualized wellness programs and the Health Resources Management Resources (HMR) programs. In addition to extensive administrative duties, the individual spends the majority of time as a clinical dietitian, conducting individual dietary assessments and nutrition counseling with patients, and coordinating and directing individual and group interventions in an outpatient clinic. The position serves in a teaching capacity for medical students, residents and allied health professionals rotating through the Clinic. The incumbent also provides lectures to members of the Department of Internal Medicine on weight management. The individual reports to the Chief of the Division of Endocrinology, who serves as the Medical Director for WWMC. The Wellness and Weight Management (WWMC) Clinic is located in the University of Nevada School of Medicine (UNSOM). * Attach an organizational chart with positions, ranges, and names for the division. 2. If line of progression, define for each range as above. 55% - Clinical Nutritionist – Individual and Group Setting Manage and improve education and counseling regarding dietary and behavioral interventions in the individual setting including diet prescription, self-monitoring, physical activity, and lifestyle changes for WWMC. Conduct and model for other dietitians’ dietary interviews (weight loss and dieting history, dietary activity and habits) and nutrition assessments (nutrient adequacy, food 1 Manager, Wellness and Weight Management Clinic and drug interactions, anthropometric measurements including measured resting metabolic rate and body composition) Outline and teach patients self-improvement regimes for wellness and weight loss Be shadowed by and provide instruction to residents during patient appointments for the benefit of resident education Monitor progress of subjects according to study protocols and collect data Present results at regional and national meetings 15% - HMR Program Management Integrate, organize, and evaluate the education and counseling regarding dietary and behavioral interventions in a group setting including diet prescription, self-monitoring, and physical activity and lifestyle changes Coordinate all aspects of the HMR program, enroll patients into the program, and oversee collection of all required forms and program fees Maintain communication with the HMR national account manager and attend annual HMR training Supervise clinic interactions with 80-100 HMR clients per week and provide guidance and oversight for HMR policies and procedures 15% - Clinic Human Resources Management Communicate State and University policies and procedures to faculty, staff, and students, and ensure compliance with University guidelines and State rules and regulations for human resources issues, i.e., faculty and staff evaluation, performance issues, hiring, training, and termination Provide communication and direction for faculty, staff, and part-time interdisciplinary professionals Facilitate communication with the Practice Plan and provide oversight/supervision to front office support employees Organize educational activities and serve as a resource for research activities for medical students, residents, and allied health professionals 5% - Clinic Fiscal Management Review Clinic budget and employee payroll information for analysis, salaries, and report submission Oversee internal operations to support appropriate fee collection Ensure clinic operations are compliant with Practice Plan billing policies and procedures Periodically review the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, major national insurers, and local insurers’ websites for insurance and reimbursement information Review implications of insurance policies and procedures on providers and communicate issues with both the Practice Plan and providers 5% - Operational Management Organize executive meetings with the Medical Director and the Department Chair for review of personnel, finances, and any other issues Maintain a relationship with the employee benefit plans and insurers and the Quality Assurance Director; c to present data to the Practice Plan as needed Provide for ongoing communication with affiliated insurance companies and medical providers to determine changes in their procedures and to provide coordination of patient care as needed 2 Manager, Wellness and Weight Management Clinic Manage ongoing communication with staff to review and ensure patient satisfaction and progress, optimized scheduling, documentation guidelines, and HIPAA compliance efforts Assist the Medical Director with development and implementation of new programs and communicate with potential new business partners. 5% - Program Assessment and Evaluation Organize program evaluation data and reports for presentation and decision-making at both executive and staff meetings in relation to Clinic operations Review and update policies and procedures for clinic operations, marketing, and patient education handouts Keep current with changes in outpatient clinical care locally and nationally 3. The Manager of Clinical Services of the WWMC is expected to perform daily duties independently of supervisor review. The individual is expected to make judgments about the operations of the clinic programs and the HMR program. The Manager is expected to make independent judgments about personnel and management issues, patients’ nutritional needs, prescription of diets, and course of intervention. The individual has daily contact with patients, students, and other healthcare professionals. The accurate and complete performance of the job duties associated with this position is crucial to patient health, employee satisfaction, and the maintenance of operations and long-term goals of the Center. Failure to perform as expected could result in sub-standard patient care. Failure could jeopardize the financial solvency of the WWMC and have a negative impact on the reputation of UNSOM. 4. The Coordinator must review priorities, changing procedures, monthly summaries, education and research plans, and needed personnel changes at least monthly with the Medical Director of the Clinic.
