THE PARTNERS FOR THE ENVIRONMENT is a non-profit organization that seeks to connect people, issues, resources and organizations to increase our collective impact and provide environmental leadership for a healthy sustainable region. These organizations share the common goal of protecting, restoring, preserving, and promoting the environmental and agricultural resources of the Great Miami River and Little Miami River Watersheds – an 18 county region in southwest Ohio. Application deadline is Wednesday, July 15, 2015 (more information see page 5&6). Clean Ohio Greenspace grants The Clean Ohio Greenspace Conservation program funds the preservation of open spaces, sensitive ecological areas, and stream corridors. Montgomery County – deadline is October 20, 2015 at noon. OPWC District 4 Clark, Champaign, Darke, Greene, Madison, Miami, Preble and Union Counties – deadline is October 30, 2015. OPWC District 11 Butler, Clermont, Clinton and Warren Counties – deadline is February 5, 2016. The Awards recognize some of our victories and honors those who provide us with leadership and inspiration. Criteria - Achieved significant results Provided leadership and vision Inspired the work of others Utilized innovative strategies or techniques Collaborated with other Partner organizations Increased community action Acted in a courageous manner Works in the geographic area of the Great Miami River and/or Little Miami River watersheds. The Partner of the Year Award Any organization who in the past 12 months represents some or all of the criteria listed above. Sustainable actions include but are not limited to: enacting development policies that encourage installation of green infrastructure; protecting open space, farmland, or natural habitats; increasing public access to nature; reducing discharges from stormwater or wastewater; increasing recycling and waste reduction programs; sourcing local food; creating complete streets; developing urban service boundaries. Application Deadline Anyone is eligible to submit a nomination. To nominate yourself or another individual for 2014, please submit the following information no later than September 1, 2015. Nominations will be reviewed by a panel of community organization representatives. Application Process 1. Your name and contact information – including phone and email. 2. Monument Ave. Dayton, Ohio 45402 OR: info@gdpartners.org The Greater Dayton Conservation Fund A Fund of The Dayton Foundation 2015 Grant Application Guidelines The Greater Dayton Conservation Fund welcomes grant requests from organizations that benefit citizens in the Dayton/Greater Miami Valley community and that are recognized as tax-exempt under Section 501(c)3 of the Internal Revenue Code. Application deadline for 2015 is Wednesday, July 15, 2015. Generally, the Fund makes grants to help launch new projects not addressed by existing organizations or to support special efforts of already established nonprofit organizations. A proposal needs to represent a unique and unduplicated opportunity that will affect a substantial number of people. For 2015, it is anticipated that the Fund will award two $5,000 grants. The Fund Is Particularly Interested In Projects That preserve or restore natural habitats; assess/measure water quality, species, etc.; encourage regional cooperation and is consistent with regional objectives; support/stimulate sustainable agriculture; result in permanent protection of land via purchase or conservation easement; involve people of all ages, especially youth; educate general public on value of conservation principles; provide nature experiences for urban residents; identify as an objective in a Watershed Action Plan; encourage/implement Conservation Design principles for construction projects. The Fund Does Not Award Grants For general organizational operations; ongoing programs; individuals; scientific, medical or academic research projects; operational deficits or reduced or lost funding; sectarian activities of religious organizations; scholarships and travel grants; annual fundraising drives, ceremonies, special or one-time events; public or private schools; endowment funds. To Be To Be Eligible for a Grant, Your Organization Must be recognized as a 501(c)3 tax-exempt nonprofit organization, (with a primary program focus on conservation.) benefit the citizens in the Dayton/Greater Miami Valley region; have a diversity/inclusion policy; and address needs that are not met fully by existing organizational or community resources. Additionally, the budget for the project may include administrative costs, but these would be limited to 10% of the total project budget (grant should not be a burden to staff of organization). Award notification will be in September. The Grantee must be able to attend the Partners for the Environment Fall Award Reception. You will be notified of when the event will be held.
