I’m VERY pleased to announce that for the month of September, the percentage of Tsi Deldel students achieving our goal of 90 percent or better attendance increased by 22 percent over September of last year. 77 percent of our students met the 90 percent attendance goal compared to only 55percent on September of last year. Even better, more students attended school regularly this September than ANY month in the 2013-14 school year. I congratulate students and families who achieved this important goal. Let’s keep working toward the larger goal of having 90 percent of our students attending school 90 percent of the time. Sincerely, Lisa Lisa Hartwick, MA (Psych) RCC Tsi Deldel Community Therapist School Assessment Every five years our school undergoes a mandatory assessment that is supervised by the First Nations Schools Association (FNSA). The assessment will take place throughout the2014-15 school year and will examine school administration procedures, school programs, including subjects taught, and the Chilcotin Language and Culture Program. The assessment will enable us to undertake a meaningful review of our operations, including challenges and successes in order to continually work toward school improvement. A FNSA representative has been assigned as our coach. He will visit the school and community, interview teachers and support staff, students, parents, Chief and Council and Band members. The coach will also observe teachers “in action.” As more information about the process arrives, I will relay it to the community. I expect to be holding a community dinner / information session to inform everyone about the process, perform surveys and seek input. I hope you will attend. The more participation by community members, the better the results and the stronger our school will become. Good day Tsi del del, Fall is absolutely wonderful this year. I hope that everyone is enjoying the beautiful weather that we are having. The students have been extremely busy learning to print their names, cutting skills, thanksgiving crafts, counting, and shapes, along with the new read well program. I wish you all the best for Thanksgiving. Deanna * How many read well groups are moving through level 1? Be the first three people to phone the front desk at the school and WIN a PRIZE! Who’s paying attention? Hello, hello How has everyone been? It has been great with smooth sailing for me so far. It’s definitely looking fall out there hey. With all the leaves turning color and the cold crisp mornings with frost on our windows. I bet all the kids are getting excited for Halloween just around the corner. Me myself I’m getting excited for our thanksgiving dinner I’m going to be making at home. It’s nice being able to bake and cook for special occasions. Well I hope everyone has something to be thankful for on thanksgiving and I hope everyone has a very Happy and Safe Halloween. Brandy Ms. Pedersen - October 2014 We are working very hard in all subject areas. IN Mathematics, students are learning about division, quotients, dividends, symbols and how the operations work. We are also learning about temperature and completing ratio equations. 4/5 = N/20. My name is Madison. I am in Grade 4 and I am 9 years old. I helped Linda on Sunday. I helped with the Headstone. I had a great time with helping. I was able to see lots of people at the ceremony. We also had a giveaway for the adults and children. The adults played Lehal. All of the children played and helped. I had a great time helping Linda. This was very important to me. The grade 9 student is also studying ORDER OF OPERATIONS and solving problems for different variables. The work is difficult, but the focus and attention, of the students, to direction and instruction is incredible. We are therefore experiencing many successes. Here is a Story about Mary and Walter. I am in Grade 6 and my name is Tamara Ross. Mary is a cop and Walter is a cop dog. They are buddies. Mary had raised Walter when he was a puppy. Walter was the runt of the bunch. This is why Mary raised Walter. Mary loved Walter more than you will ever know. The students in Level 4 Reading Mastery are developing solid and extremely focused paragraph writing skills. My name is Allison and I am in Grade 5. My Dad, Ervin, bought me a new horse. I was so surprised. I love my Dad. Also: I had Smores with my family. It was all so wonderful and fun. I can do a flip on the trampoline. It is so awesome doing a flip. Our objectives has been to locate subjects, predicates, examine over usage of compound words and pronouns. (he, she, and, then) The students are creating paragraphs which are written with a genuine focus towards their success. It is important to recognize high achievements and I am doing this with sharing a few very well written paragraphs. ENJOY THE WORK OF FUTURE AUTHORS! Wishing everyone a wonderful and very safe month of October. Hi my name is Danielle I am in grade five. I want to share that I painted my dog’s nails. Whenever I was done with painting one nail she would look at one of her nails. Daisy would keep on picking at her nails because I painted her nails red. They were all sparkly. I painted all five of her nails on all four of her pause. I know Daisy would hide her paws away from me if she knew what I was doing. I went to the town to visit my cousin. On my birthday, we went to the movie theatre with my cousin. We watched, “The Maze Runner”. It was a good movie. We were the first ones there. The best part was that we were able to sit at the very front of the Movie Theatre; in the first row. This is how it looks when you are up front!! My name is Nate. I am in Grade 4 and I am 9 years old. I want to share about my moose. Okay, I will write about the Moose. It all started at Spoken Lake Road. There was a turn off the road and then there was a meadow. I slowly walked through the meadow and saw the moose. I scoped the moose’s shoulder and shot him in the ribs. I ran over with my papa and I shot the moose in the head again and again. The moose finally died. We cut its throat. This was my first moose. By Nate Graham Thank you for taking the time to read the children’s stories. We will have more student work in the News Letters, so please look for our monthly issues. Happy Thanksgiving! The fall is fast approaching. This month we are going to be learning fall vocabulary: Autumn Colour Leaves Apple Leaf Harvest Rake Maple Seeds Thanksgiving There are two read well groups moving through level 1. One of the groups will be learning about turkeys, weather, caterpillars and animals. The other read well group will be learning about chicken little, trains, kittens and tadpoles. We are settling into our read well routines and would love having visitors to come check out what we are learning. Within the last month, many of the students have shown improvement in their reading! Level 1 and level 3 Saxon math groups have been reviewing many concepts from last year. In level 1, we have been reviewing counting, adding, missing numbers, and counting money. The level 3 group has been reviewing perimeter, types of lines, patterns with numbers, money, time, and multiplication. I am looking forward to another exciting and full month of learning throughout October! Sechanalyagh, Mrs. Anderberg Hello to the Community members! Wow! Time sure is passing by fast! As you already know I work as an Education Assistant/Librarian position! I work with the senior class and math class. They also move me to where help is needed. One of the things as a Librarian, sent off my September Book order. We have not even sent off the September orders and have our October order forms. Therefore; I would like the order sent back by the 7th of October 2014 and hope to have the order in before Halloween. In the Library department I am slowly figuring it all out and learning to do the things of scanning and getting to know the computer process. Eventually, I will get it done. I will keep all posted of any new information's. Happy Thanksgiving to your house from ours! Then, Happy Halloween to one and all! Please be safe and fun October. Sechanalyagh! Linda A whole month has passed already! We are into the swing of things in the Grade 6-9 classroom. We have successfully started Saxon Math and continue to read and study Short Stories. Since our classroom is full of successful readers, our English classes have been focused on vocabulary and comprehension. In all subjects we need to complete the work we have not finished in class, so students will have homework every night (unless your child is a speed demon! ) I am finding that some students are not completing work at home, so they are required to attend homework room at lunch hour. If they still behind in their studies, they will be required to stay afterschool on Mondays and Wednesdays for 45 minutes or until they are caught up. Students that want a little extra help can also attend afterschool. I don’t want students to fall so far behind that they are not succeeding in class!. I will be hosting a dinner next Wednesday night (October 15 th). Parents and Gr. 6-9 Students are welcome to attend… Invitations will go out this week. If you have and questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me at the school. Thanks! Sechanalyagh! Kristi Hamar Good day everyone! Hunilht’ih, sah?ahgwent”ih hah, Monday morning and a sad day for this community. I pray that things will fall into place for us, and the family that lost their son, at a young age. Please take the time to visit or call them, sechanalyagh! I can’t believe its October already, thanksgiving weekend this weekend and Halloween is around the corner. What are your plans for Halloween? Have fun day with your siblings, and that’s important. As parents we need to bond with our children, whether they are young or older. My students are working hard to learn new things in my classes, it is a blessing to see, most of the students are interested in our culture activities. Parents come by to check to see what we have each week, Chilcotin classes starts around 1:15. Hope to see you soon! Lina Williams Chilcotin Language / Culture Teacher TsiDeldel School
