Methodist, sweeping all 23 first-place votes, is the unanimous choice for the top spot in the Golf
World/NGCA women’s Division III preseason coaches’ poll. The Monarchs won their 14th
consecutive NCAA title last spring, continuing a run of dominance matched in few collegiate
sports. The school claimed eight tournament titles during the 2010-11 season in 10 starts.
DePauw, the fifth-place team at last spring’s national championship, earned the No. 2 spot in
the preseason poll, followed by NCAA runner-up Gustavus Adolphus, Illinois Wesleyan and St.
Mary’s (Ind.).
