(Y/N) Next Steps / Reasons Noting Key Dates (Dates for Diary) Y A new page called Dates for Diary has already been added to website in the News and Information section and will be updated accordingly. Regular School Blog Y School ‘Glow’ Blog has been deleted and replaced with a more accessible ‘Weekly Blog’, located in the News and Information section. This will be updated on the Friday of each week. News / Headlines link on Home Page Y We try to use the headline rolling message on the Home Page to pass on upcoming events etc. This will continue to be monitored and the headline changed accordingly. Important links will also be added to the Home Page. Info on Cycling Proficiency Page ? It is unsure whether the Cycling proficiency club will continue due to changes in the running of the club. The page has been deleted from the website at the moment but will return, with further information, if the club goes ahead. Next Steps / Improvements pg 2 Suggested Improvements Can / Will it be taken forward? (Y/N) Next Steps / Reasons Emails made to school not answered Y Emails were not being answered as the wrong email address was on the website. Our apologies for this error. The correct address has been added now and is located at the bottom of every page. enquiries@eastfield.nlanark.sch.uk This account will be only be checked on a Friday for enquiries, therefore please be patient when waiting for a reply. Urgent requests are best made by telephone. Making a slideshow for photos to be viewed together Y This idea had not occurred before. It will be too time consuming to amend the pages already on the website but pages with numerous pictures will be added as a slideshow in future. Next Steps / Improvements pg 3 Suggested Improvements Can / Will it be taken forward? (Y/N) Next Steps / Reasons Used during bad weather for pupil work Y Once again a sensible idea. Teachers will provide suitable activities and these will be added to the Pupil Zone page, during Term 3 2013, to be accessed when the school is closed. Facility for answering parental questions / queries Y As stated before, the correct email address is now on the website and questions / enquiries can be made through this forum. Facility to order uniform online N As far as we are led to believe, uniform cannot be ordered directly from the supplier we use. However, uniform forms can be downloaded from the website (see School Information section) and handed into the office. The school do not make ANY profit from orders. Next Steps / Improvements pg 4 Suggested Improvements Can / Will it be taken forward? (Y/N) Next Steps / Reasons Facebook page II N The school do not wish to use a public social media forum as it cannot be monitored as rigorously as the current website. Parents’ Page ? The Parent Council are currently discussing the possibilities of creating a Parent Blog. However, administration, security and accessibility issues need to be addressed first. Further details will be given once a decision has been made before June 2013. Lunch Menu Y Details and menus are already on the school website in the School Information section. This page will continue to be updated accordingly. Transport Guide Y Information will be searched via the NLC website and this will be relayed on a new School Transport page which will be added to the School Information page before June 2013. Next Steps / Improvements pg 5 Suggested Improvements Can / Will it be taken forward? (Y/N) Next Steps / Reasons Upcoming Events II Y A new page has recently been added to the website (Dates for Diary) which is accessible through the News and Information section. Achievements Page for School / Pupils Y The website already has an Achievement Page, celebrating successes. This can be accessed through the School Gallery link. Pictures and details are added to this, however efforts will be made to keep this up to date. School Calendar page ? We are unsure if it is possible to add such a feature to the website. We will ask the NLC Computer Centre for their advice in Term 3 2013. Staff picture page to familiarise with staff Y The Nursery staff have already added their photos to their part of the website. However, some school staff were apprehensive of adding their picture to the website. A possible compromise may be to add a Staff Notice board to the school corridor. This will be discussed with staff in Term 3 2013 with a view to implementing the notice board in the 2013/14 session. Next Steps / Improvements pg 6 Suggested Improvements Can / Will it be taken forward? (Y/N) Next Steps / Reasons GIF files N We are not planning to add any more GIF (moving files) to the website. However, we do not want to spend time on making this change when we could dedicate the change to more profitable changes. Parent Council minutes Y We are currently trying to upload the minutes of every Parent Council meeting. We will endeavour to keep on top of this. Updating Class changes (Gym days) ? Unfortunately it is up to the individual class teacher to either update the class page themselves or to notify the teacher responsible for the website to make the changes. Once again, we will try to keep on top of this. Different format instead of Quicktime N We have chosen to use Quicktime as the format of our videos as it is the most common type used by both PCs and Apple computers. Next Steps / Improvements pg 7 Suggested Improvements Can / Will it be taken forward? (Y/N) Next Steps / Reasons Art section empty N This gallery section was deleted as it was a lot of work to continually update. Instead individual and class artwork can be uploaded by the class teacher. More pupil work added II ? We try our best to add pupil work onto the website. As only 50 mins is dedicated to the maintenance of the website every week, only small changes can be made. We will try our very best to continue to add more pupil work though. Reminders of upcoming events online Y As stated before, the new Dates for Diary page will inform everyone of events coming up. Closer to each event we try announce it on the scroll bar on the Home Page. Next Steps / Improvements pg 8 Suggested Improvements Can / Will it be taken forward? (Y/N) Next Steps / Reasons More use of the Blogs ? The use of Blogs as an interactive tool requires the user to have a working Glow account. Each class has a Blog which the class teacher can add to if they wish though and every pupil should know their Glow login details. Make parents more aware of Website Y Steps have been taken to try to direct the school community to regularly checking the website. Presentations have been made at workshops and the website address has been given out on various newsletters. We hope, in time, more and more parent/guardians/pupils will use the website as their primary source of information.
