Michael J. Fox Autobiography Project
Michael J. Fox is a very interesting man. He has such a great life with acting
career. He was born on June 9th, 1961 in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. When Mr. Fox was
16 years old, he dropped out of school just to act. A few years past, he moved here, in
America, to Hollywood, California hoping for a career to act. In one of his acting jobs, he
found his wife. He saw her in the same series before but didn’t love her at the time. He
met with her once again in a different job. Michael married Tracy Pollan and had four
kids. Their names are Samuel, Aquinnah, Schuyler, and Esme. As of right now Michael is
51 years old.
In all of Michael’s life, he has some struggles. He has a rare disease which is
Parkinson’s disease. What was so unfortunate about this is that he got it at 30 when
most people get it at 50+. Some interesting facts about him that people may not know
are his middle name was Andrew but added the J because Hollywood already had a
Michael Fox. Lastly, in his early years, Michael wanted to be a pro hockey player. The
only thing stopping him was his size. Mr. Fox was a small kid and still is. He would get
really injured so he left that dream and pursued his next dream of acting.
Michael had a tough time when he came to America. Wouldn’t you be scared
coming to a new country alone? After Michael dropped out of school he moved to the
United States of America all alone. Michael was pulled from Canada to America. He
came here to act knowing that Hollywood made many nobody’s into superstars. All
Mike had to do is hop on a plane. Soon after, he landed an acting job, but then he lost it
and couldn’t get another one. He started to sell his apartment furniture. Right before
Michael was about to give up and go back home, he got a job on Family Ties. Michael J.
Fox’s childhood was perfect besides the fact that his parents didn’t want him to act.
That didn’t stop him. To add, he was picked on for being small. Many people believed in
Mike for all his amazing humor. Michael J. Fox would be considered brave for coming to
America all alone. If he was in trouble all he had to do was land an acting job. What
Michael did to be great was come alone to the United States and he could act
amazingly. After a few years in America, he was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. This
was a huge problem for him. He felt if he told the media they would ask so many
questions. After a few years, he told the whole world on live T.V., Spin City.
In Michael’s life he did some regretful things. Mike would descend with some
failures, but climb back up. What he did was risky. He dropped out of school just to act
at age 16. This was risky because if he hadn’t gotten a job he wouldn’t be able to get
back in school so easily. Even worse, he might need to get a job he didn’t want to do and
suffer through it. In the latter part of his teenage years he moved to America alone. This
was depraved because he might not land an acting job and have to move back to
Canada in a sorrowful, shameful trip. Michael’s worst nightmare came true. He had just
finished an acting job and had a lot of money. After a while he couldn’t find a job and
started to worry. Then he had to sell his apartment furniture and was going broke. Right
when he was going to give up and move back to Canada, he saw an acting job that put
him back on top.
Hence, Mr. Fox’s amazing acting talents allowed him to star in many great movies
and shows. He started acting in school for plays and acts in the talent show. He is a
comedian actor. He starred in blockbuster movies and shows like Doc Hollywood, and
voiced in Stuart Little 3. He truly could entertain any type of audience. His best TV
series is Family Ties, and movie is Back to the Future. He could act in any type of genre,
comedy, action, and drama. In Family Ties the dad was the main character, but he’s such
a virtuous actor, so he became the main character. After a while, he started a show of
his own called Spin City. He was the host of his own hit show.
Many people in America feel that Michael is a representative. He does too many
activities that are helpful to us Americans. First, he is an amazing actor, and brings us
fantastic blockbusters. For example, he starred in so many hit TV shows and too many
movies. The movies he starred in were phenomenal. To add, he got diagnosed with
Parkinson’s which shocked him, but that didn’t stop him to act. Later, started his own
talk show. His Parkinson’s disease got worst but he still was a talk show host. After a
while he told the whole the world on his sitcom about his big secret. That was brave as
to what would follow like questions, how acting would go, and would he live. Soon after
his show stopped airing. After that he wrote a few autobiographies. To help fight his
disease, he organized a fundraiser. It was to help people with Parkinson’s. He told them
that they will make it, that they can win the war with the dreadful disease. USA is
considered a melting pot. What’s meant by that is a melting pot contains many
ingredients. This can relate to America. In that the United States many people have
originated from various countries. Mike is a part of this because he isn’t from the United
States and was thrown in the pot when he moved here. After all this he rose to the
occasion and was a successful man in America.
During the height his fame he said a quote more times than any other quote. His
quote is “The war against Parkinson’s is a winnable war.” What is meant by saying this is
that if you have the disease you won’t be on death row, you have a chance to win the
battle. The reason he said it was he won the war, he didn’t die, and he knows you have
to fight hard but still have a chance.
Michael J. Fox is a very fascinating man. The reason I picked him was because he
had a unique life. He went through tough times; he had to face many barriers, and need
to rebuild himself after he had been demolished. Likewise, he was in one of my favorite
movies, Back to Future. Hence, he inspired me to like acting. He made a foundation for
his rare disease and inspired me to do a small lemonade stand for cancer. Lastly, he was
in a very steep hole and somehow built his way out of it. Michael J. Fox is a very
motivating man and is a very respectable actor. What a life he has!
