Social Enterprise Network – July 2015 NEWS Big Lottery Fund's New £48.5m Initiative to Benefit Women and Girls - deadline for Expression of Interest - 16 July (5pm) The Big Lottery Fund has launched a £45 million grants programme for voluntary, community and social enterprise sector organisations in England whose primary purpose is to support women and girls. The funding is aimed at projects that empower women and girls who are facing or affected by substance misuse, mental ill health, domestic violence, sexual exploitation, and homelessness, to take control of their lives. Projects must put women and girls at the centre of project planning and enable them to be involved in making decisions about where the funding would go. This funding is only open to not-for-profit organisations, whose primary purpose is to deliver services to women and/or girls. Eligible organisations include voluntary and community unincorporated charitable associations, registered charities, community benefit societies registered as industrial and provident societies, community interest companies and social enterprises. Applicants must have a strong track record of delivering services to women and/or girls. They can either be organisations that focus on specific issues (eg, domestic and sexual violence or mental health) or run community-based services such as a women's centre or youth group. Organisations will be able to apply for grants of between £150,000 and £750,000 for up to five years. The funding can be for some or all of the project costs. There is no restriction on the overall project cost. Most of the funding should be used to cover revenue costs, though some may be for overheads and capital costs. The Big Lottery Fund is setting aside £3.5 million of the £48.5 million for support and development and evaluation activities in support of the grants being made. The first step in the application process is to contact the Big Advice Team on 0345 4 10 20 30 to express an interest in applying and to find out more about the initiative.
