Question 1: Testing of battered micropiles for CR22H wall is problematic. Can testing occur for
only the vertical micropile?
Response: Yes, testing can occur on only the vertical micropiles. Revision of Section 503 Micropile has been revised accordingly.
Question 2: Clarify the gradation requirements for the Structural Backfill (Class 2) material as
specified on page 45.
Response: Revision of Section 206 – Excavation and Backfill for Structures has been revised to
remove any reference to ABC Class 4 or Class 5 materials.
Question 3: Please clarify rock anchor spacing?
Response: Rock anchor spacing is called out on Sheet 54 of the plan set, in the design table.
Question 4: Bearing Plates/nuts don't have corrosion protection called for in plans - is
galvanized ok?
Response: Yes, galvanized protection is ok.
Question 5: Please confirm grout strength requirements and pay length of the micropiles.
Response: Grout shall have a 28-day minimum compressive strength of 4000 psi. Pay length
will be defined as the total length, cased plus uncased. Plan sheet 57 has been revised.
Question 6: Please confirm micropile casing sizing. The 6" x1/4" casing doesn’t provide the
necessary wall thickness for the threads.
Response: Plan sheet 57 has been revised to include a 7” diameter x 0.408 inch Steel Casing.
Question 7: Was the micropile analyzed for the uncased segment?
Response: Yes.
