Response: Yes, testing can occur on only the vertical micropiles. Revision of Section 503 Micropile has been revised accordingly. Question 2: Clarify the gradation requirements for the Structural Backfill (Class 2) material as specified on page 45. Response: Revision of Section 206 – Excavation and Backfill for Structures has been revised to remove any reference to ABC Class 4 or Class 5 materials. Question 3: Please clarify rock anchor spacing? Response: Rock anchor spacing is called out on Sheet 54 of the plan set, in the design table. Question 4: Bearing Plates/nuts don't have corrosion protection called for in plans - is galvanized ok? Response: Yes, galvanized protection is ok. Question 5: Please confirm grout strength requirements and pay length of the micropiles. Response: Grout shall have a 28-day minimum compressive strength of 4000 psi. Pay length will be defined as the total length, cased plus uncased. Plan sheet 57 has been revised. Question 6: Please confirm micropile casing sizing. The 6" x1/4" casing doesn’t provide the necessary wall thickness for the threads. Response: Plan sheet 57 has been revised to include a 7” diameter x 0.408 inch Steel Casing. Question 7: Was the micropile analyzed for the uncased segment? Response: Yes. Question 8: Will the County provide color image files for the rock scaling photos? It’s difficult to identify the fracture locations? The Contractors are encouraged to visit the sites prior to bidding, but no additional rock scaling info/photos/diagrams will be provided. Question 9: How is the rock scaling pay item measured? Is it per hour for all crewman, equipment, etc. Response: Yes. Refer to Revision of Section 203 Rock Scaling in the special provisions. Question 10: Will the County allow cable lashing for rock scaling mitigation? Response: No. Question 11: Is blasting for rock excavation for wall spread footings allowed? Response: No. Question 12: Are they any weight restrictions on the CR 31D Bridge? Response: No; however, any overweight or oversize vehicles shall be submitted to the Engineer 1-week prior to construction for review.
