The “clouds” are the natural evolution of traditional data centers, they are distinguished by exposing resources (computation, data, and application) as standard-based Web services and following a “utility” pricing model where customers are charged based on their utilization of computational resources, storage and transfer of data. b) Autonomous Robotics This Workshop mainly focuses on the students eager to learn Robotics from Basic. They will get the chance to expand their knowledge in the field of designing, construction, operation, and application of Robot with real time hand on practical experience. c) Automobile Engine Mechanics Mainly focuses from Basics to Advanced concepts in Automobile Engineering. RULES & REGULATIONS OF ELTECHSO’16 All the teams are required to confirm their arrival time and place, well in advance before the fest. Registration fee for ELTECHSO ’16 is Rs 300/- for students. Participants only from Batch, B.E will be entertained. Faculty members (if any) accompanying the team will not be charged any fee subject to a maximum of two. Decision of the jury will be final and binding for all events. All the participants are requested to bring their College Identity Cards , 4 photographs and letter of approval from their college authority as per given format. Each entry must be forwarded by the respective Principal/Director or any competent authority. No obscene/vulgar statement/gestures are tolerable under any circumstances and will certainly lead to disqualification of the entire team. Any event can be cancelled or added without any prior notice. In cases of shortage of time, the registration for any event will be done on first come first serve basis. Any type of damage to the institute property in any form or any other indiscipline in the institute is not tolerable and strict disciplinary action will be initiated against the defaulter(s) as per the rules of the institute. Use of any unfair means like approach to judges etc. will lead to disqualification. Smoking and drinking is strictly prohibited inside the campus. At the venue of event, no mobile phone or electronic gadgets will be entertained. RULES OF PARTICIPATION IN ELTECHSO’16 Per college only one team (single/ group) per event will be entertained. For Host College two teams (single/group) per event will be entertained. Students can participate in only 5 events including 2 of literary and 3 of technical. Students need to collect their ID a day before the fest. REGISTRATION DETAILS Participants need to carry 4 photographs to register themselves. Competition Format: 2.1. Elimination Round: Round 1: BRAIN BUZZ There will be 30 questions and will be conducted online. 30 minutes will be given for all the questions. Negative marking for each incorrect answer. Round 2: SPELL MAESTRO There will be 30 words in Hindi. Each word will be repeated within an interval of 30 seconds. Round 3: MARATHON READING There will be a passage of around 250 words. Be careful with the punctuations used in the passage. Only 1 minute will be given to complete the passage reading. Round 4: IMPROMPTU You have to give your views on tagline/ theme. Only 30 seconds will be given to think and 1 minute to speak. Round 5: GROUP DISCUSSION Irrelevant facts and answers will not be considered. Medium of communication should be only in English. 3. Judging Criteria: 1. Teams will be promoted to next round on the basis of maximum score. Event 2: OUT OF THE BOX A common idiom used to illustrate optimism versus pessimism is a glass with water at the halfway point, where the optimist is said to see the glass as half full and the pessimist sees the glass as half empty. Rules: Each participant will get an optimistic statement. They have to present pessimistic thoughts about the word or vice versa. Event 3: WORDS WIDTH This event is put forward to test your skills on how much you know about words and their meanings. Rules: Each participant will be given 20 sentences. Each participant has to frame a word or a phrase from a given sentence. Event 4: STUMPED Compassion for competitors, after all, is what distinguishes the commentator-asshowman from the commentator-as-narrator. Rules: This is based on Cricket Commentary. Commentary will be done for the given situation. Each participant will be given 30 sec to think and 1 minute for commentary. Event 5: CALLIGRAPHY The art of producing decorative handwriting or lettering with a pen Rules: Each participant will be given a paragraph of at least 80 words. Maximum 40 minutes will be given to complete the calligraphy. Calligraphy has to be done with only Fountain pen. Event 6: Bermuda Triangle Number of participants per team: 3 1. Introduction: Bermuda Triangle is a competition for all those electronics students who are good with building circuits in limited period of time. It also tests co-ordination with your teammates. 2. Problem Statement: The participants in each group have to build three electronic circuits (each member has to build one circuit independently). After 10 minutesparticipants will switch their places with their member in their own group and will continue to build the circuit to which they are switched. Switching will be done until all circuits are completed. 3. Competition Format: 3.1. Elimination Round: 1. In this round, the quiz on the basics of Electronics will be asked. 2. Time limit will exist. 3.2. Final Round: 1. Each participant in a group is provided with components & circuit diagram to build the circuit. 2. They have to interchange their places as the buzzer sounds & continue further work. 3. If any member succeeds to complete his/her before the time limit then he/she is not allowed to assist the remaining team members. 4. Judging Criteria: 4.1. Participants will be judged by how quickly a team completes all 3 circuits correctly. Event 7: Dot M Number of participants per team: 2 1. Introduction: This competition aims at testing the programming skills of the participant in MATLAB and use of MATLAB in various applications. 2. Competition Format: 2.1. Elimination Round: 1. This is a programming round. The programming will be heavily based on basic MATLAB concepts, commands. 2. Time limit will be maximum of 1 hour. All those team who will clear round 1 will go in final round. 2.2 Final Round: This round is based on simulink toolbox. 1. Problem statement will be given. Circuit diagram will not be provided. 2. Maximum Time limit will be 1 hour. 3. Prerequisites: Basic knowledge of commands and various toolboxes in MATLAB 4. Judging Criteria: 1. Participants will be judged by how quickly a team completes the circuits correctly. Event 8: Tangle Trick Number of participants per team: 4 1. Introduction: This competition aims at testing the programming skills of the participant in Microcontroller and use of Microcontroller in various applications. 2. Competition Format: 2.1. Elimination Round: 2.1.1. Round 1: 1. In this round, the quiz on the basics of Microcontroller and Microprocessor. 2. Time limit will exist. 2.1.2. Round 2: Rapid-fire round 1. In this round, questions will be asked on latest electronic gadgets. 2.2. Round 3: Final Round: 1. This is a programming round. The programming will be heavily based on basic Microcontroller and then used in ROBOTICS. 2. The team has to bring their own robot for solving a maze. 3. Time limit will exist of 3 hours. 3. Judging Criteria: 1. Teams will be promoted to next round on the basis of maximum score. 2. The winner will be decided by how quickly a team makes the robot work correctly. Event 9: Circuit Eye Number of participants per team: 2 1. Introduction: Circuit eye is a competition for all those electronics students who are good with building circuits in limited period of time. 2. Problem Statement: All you need to do is design the circuit on PCB, for which you don’t need to be an electronics Whiz! Circuit Eye basically tests your practical knowledge of electronics and your ability to implement circuit carefully. 3. Competition Format: 3.1. Elimination Round: 1. In this round, the quiz on the basics of Electronics will be asked. 2. Time limit will exist. 3.2. Final Round: 1. Each team will be provided with components & circuit diagram to build the circuit. 2. Time limit will exist. 4. Judging Criteria: 1. Participants will be judged by how quickly a team completes the circuits correctly. Event 10: Robotron Number of participants per team: 2 1. Introduction: Robotron is a competition in which the participants have to achieve target by passing through different obstacles. 2. Problem Statement: Robots will be racing against each other in a race track having some minor obstacles. The dimension of the robot should not be more than 10cm* 10cm* 10cm during all time of the game. 3. Competition Format: An arena will be given that will be fixed to ground. The robot has to pass through different stages. The obstacles used in the track include jumping, bridge, inclination, sharp turn and many more. The winner will be decided on the ability of the robot to outrun the opponent. 4. Judging Criteria: 1. The robot should complete the track in single attempt. 2. The robot that achieves the target in minimum time will be the winner of the event. Event 11: SHER'LOCK Number of participants per team: 2 SHER’LOCK is a computer based detective event. In this event participants are targeted to finish the task depending on the clues that they get from their previous questions. Participants need to identify the clues to reach their ultimate final systems, which aims a folder that “YOUR TASK IS COMPLETED”. Number of Rounds: 2 Rounds Description: Round 1:General aptitude questions-numeric based. Round 2: Run the system depending upon the clues to reach their goal. RULES &REGULATIONS: Two members per team. ID Card is mandatory. Registration receipts are must. Using Cell Phones is strictly prohibited. Winners will be finalized by the judges. EVENT 12: APP ON Number of participants per team: 2 Do you think you can create an app? Then this event is just for YOU! Register and APPON… Number of Rounds: 1 Rounds Description: Choose any one from the given apps and develop it in the given time duration. Theme of the App and other details will be provided on the spot. RULES AND REGULATIONS: Mobile phones are not allowed. Event 13: C & SOLVE Number of participants per team: 2 Think you can program well? This is an event that will test the programming skills and acumen of the participant. Number of Rounds: 3 Rounds Description: First round: Consists of 30 questions. The time limit is 10 minutes. Second round: Based on score 20 teams will be selected from first round. 10 programs will be given, participants should write the expected output of the given programs. Time limit is 1 min for each question. Only 5 teams will be promoted to the third round. Third round: Each team will be given ‘2’ programs which they have to execute within 30 minutes. RULES AND REGULATIONS: Electronic gadgets are not allowed. Event 14: C’DOKU Number of participants per team: 1 Number of Rounds: 1 Rounds Description: Fill in the puzzle within the given time limit using your C Language Skills . Event 15: NETWORKING Number of participants per team: 3 Number of Rounds: 3 Rounds Description: Round 1: Use your Networking Skills for the Quiz. Round 2: Perform crimping ingiven time limit.
