ABSTRACT
Health is a major form of human capital and there exists substantial agreement in the literature on the relationship between health and economic development through its relationship between capability and poverty. This study investigated the accessibility of healthcare as well as the utilization of healthcare facilities in the tertiary institution in
Nigeria. The method for data collection was through the design of self-administered questionnaires. Three hypotheses were formulated and the data collected was analyzed using Chi-square, where the critical value was p value < 𝜒 2
0.05, the aid of SPSS version
20.The result indicated that removing healthcare fees in tertiary institutions was seen as a potentially effective and pragmatic tool for bridging the socio-economic divide across the country and improving health equity within the tertiary community.
