Feature Article Project In this project, you will be conducting an interview with a family member from a different generation, such as a parent or grandparent. In doing this, you are to find out information about a number of topics. The purpose of this interview is to discover more about aspects of life in the past, including school, politics, culture, etc. Using information from the interview, as well as information discovered through your research in our school library, you will create a feature article to share with your family and classmates. This feature article will complement the work that students do for the “Your History – Your Life” project in Mrs. Conely’s class. MARK EACH STEP AS YOU COMPLETE IT! Step One: Interview Write at least 15 interview questions to ask your subject. Interview your subject, recording their answers and asking follow-up questions as necessary. Step Two: Research In the school library, or on your home computer, find additional information about an interesting event, person, or time period that came up in your interview. Step Three: Rough Draft Together we will move through the writing process, and you will create a rough draft of your feature article. Step Four: Peer Editing Your piece must show evidence of peer editing. We will complete this step in class. Step Five: Final Draft Using feedback from your peers and me, you will edit and revise your piece, turning in a final copy. Your final draft will include quotes from your interview, facts from your research, and the text features we associate with feature articles! Save this form as a checklist, and make sure to save evidence from all steps in this process. In other words, keep your interviews, research, drafts, peer editing forms, and all other documents. Your final grade on this project will reflect your final draft as well as the other work you completed along the way.
