Question 16: (EL2.1,3.2,3.3)
Toby Green started working today as a new apprentice. He has only just left school and was not sure
how the existing workers and clients would react to him. When he arrived at work, they laughed at
the way he was dressed (he thought he looked OK – his best jeans, his best earring and his best
shirt). His supervisor then gave him some tasks to complete and he thought these tasks were not
appropriate. They were cleaning the toilets, making coffee for everyone. When he asked if these
tasks were his job, the Supervisor just yelled at him and said “lump it or like it. It’s about time we
had a “lackey” to do our bidding. I don’t care if it’s not your job!”
1. Who should Toby report this matter to?
2. Should Toby record this incident?
3. What should Toby do in this situation – he is feeling very stressed?
