vessels (arteries, veins,
capillaries).
- Others animals such as snails
and lobsters, use an open
circulatory system which
“bathes” the body tissues in
blood.

have lung tissue containing
alveoli which allow for the
exchange of oxygen and
carbon dioxide between the
lungs and the bloodstream.
- Some, such as fish mollusk,
use gills to remove oxygen
from the water and carbon
dioxide from the
bloodstream.
Obtaining nutrients

organized system obtaining nutrients
from their food.
- Mammals, birds, and reptiles,
etc. have a complex digestive
system composed of various
organs for breaking down and
absorbing the nutrients from
their food.
- Others animals, such as
jellyfish and corals, have a
mouth that leads to a hollow
body cavity where the food is
digested. After the nutrients
have been obtained, the
wastes are exited though the
mouth.
