Importance to stay in
touch with advisor
•
•
•
•
•
•
Contact your advisor as soon as possible
Set up an appointment
Bring your degree plan
List your goals to present to advisor
List your concerns
Try to meet at least once a semester or
more if needed
ESL
• Many school districts are requiring new
teachers to have ESL certification in
their hiring process.
• Many school districts are seeing their
schools more diversified.
• ESL teaching techniques can benefit not
just the ESL students but can also help
all students with their learning
Importance of a Study Buddy
• Preventing Procrastination – Forming study groups helps prevent
people from procrastinating because when they are in a study
group it helps them stay on task.
• Building Comprehension - When collaborating with other peers
helps you comprehend what is being studied. Many times you are
also able to learn the material faster. Sometimes when you are
able to sit and ask questions you are able to make more sense of
the material.
• Different viewpoints – When you participate in a study group you
are able to see different viewpoints, which can help provide
more information to build on to your prior knowledge.
Importance of a Study Buddy
Cont..
• New study skills – A study group can help offer you
different study techniques and help you make good study
habits for the future.
• Good company – By talking and engaging in the content you
are able to enjoy what you are studying. Many times the
material being studied becomes more interesting.
• Minimize Anxiety – When in a group setting it could help
you feel more confident in your studying.
• Build Professional Skills – When becoming an educator you
are required to collaborate with your team and coworkers. By getting in a study group you are developing
those skills needed for the work place.
