E-assessment task Language: Italian Year: 9 Indicative time: 4 hours Topic: Leisure, hobbies and pastimes Mark/weighting: Speaking 15 marks (15%) Task: Create a podcast about the student’s preferred leisure activity. This will include a written draft of the speech to be checked by the teacher before recording the speech using Audacity and posting the recording to a designated location on the school server. Context: Students have been working on a unit about leisure activities including sport and how some activities are influenced by the seasons and about how teenagers in Italianspeaking countries enjoy many of the same leisure activities as Australian teenagers. They have learnt to express their preferences for particular activities. There is a class discussion on results of survey. Students collate the information and ensure that they include relevant vocabulary and structures in Italian regarding leisure activities, likes and dislikes, preferences and reasons, e.g. perché è difficile / facile; perché preferisce ballare / giocare a calcio, etc; perché è pigro / sportivo / energetico, etc. Step 2 Students write a draft speech describing their preferred leisure activity (approximately one minute) and email the draft to the teacher. Teacher provides feedback using comment balloons on the review application of the toolbar. The final product should be printed as a hard copy on A4 paper as well as posted electronically to accompany the podcast. Students practise the speech. Students record the speech using Audacity, saving it to a designated location. Students upload the sound file to a designated location. Feedback The podcasts are presented in class. Teacher leads discussion in English about the podcasts, providing detailed oral feedback to students on content, including vocabulary and structures. Teacher provides feedback to individual students as a separate recorded Audacity file. Instructions: You are required to create a podcast of your favourite pastime. In your speech you should include: relevant vocabulary and structures in Italian regarding leisure activities likes and dislikes preferences and reasons, e.g. perché è difficile / facile. The draft of your speech must be presented to your teacher for feedback on language and content before proceeding to record a sound file.
