Lt. Governor Signs Executive Order on Employment First
• Last week, Lt. Governor Calley signed an executive order designed to
increase job opportunities for Michiganders with disabilities. Executive
Order 2015-15 establishes Employment First in Michigan - recognizing
competitive employment within an integrated setting as the optimal
outcome for persons with disabilities, and honoring the choices and goals
of individuals along their path to that optimal outcome. "Employment First
encourages workplace diversity and enhances economic development
while further designating Michigan as an equal opportunity state," Calley
said. "Michiganders with all abilities deserve to live independent, selfdetermined lives. The ability to work leads to enhanced social interaction,
community involvement and economic independence, and a sense of
pride that all people desire." The executive order accomplishes a key
recommendation of the 2013 report by the Michigan Mental Health and
Wellness Commission - adopting a statewide policy on employment that
honors the choices and goals of the individual and includes a variety of
appropriate options to achieve those goals. To view the Executive Order:

B-13 Checklist Schedule
01/13/2016
By now you should have received notification from CIMS that the Catamaran system
is not yet ready for release and we will be going into CIMS on February 15. At this
time, we are planning to use CIMS for the remainder of this school year for our
monitoring work, including the B-13 checklists. This means reworking the calendar to
align with what will be the new release dates. Instead of using Catamaran from March
15 to May 30 for completing the checklists, we will be using CIMS from April 15 to
June 30. This is the same timeframe that has been used in the past. The webinar for
training on how to complete the checklists will be on April 11. Detailed information
about the start time and how to log in will be available on the CIMS training site at
http://cims.cenmi.org/Events.aspx. This webinar will be recorded and then posted on
the same site.
