Are examination script labels available
for students with disabilities to identify
the scripts to markers? Please give as
much detail as possible. Please make
distinctions between coursework and
examinations where appropriate.
These are automatically added to exam scripts of students
with SpLDs
What arrangements are in place for
students in receipt of additional time in
examinations?
Students must complete an exam form before every exam
period. This allows them flexibility to choose which
adjustments they require.
Does the HEI cover costs for support
workers in examinations ie for readers
and scribes…or is the DSA used to cover
these?
Do any other ‘student services’ have
particular provisions for students with
disabilities? For example is there a
dedicated careers adviser, study abroad
adviser, residential
services/accommodation adviser, study
skills adviser?
Each professional services department and teaching faculty
has a Learning Support Coordinator. This includes the library,
careers, IT services, counselling and partner institutions.
Any other specialist provisions?
We have an adapted vehicle which staff and students can
book for fieldtrips, and other study related events.
Procedures for interim support
What procedure / provision is in place
relating to ‘interim’ support – ie support
to be made available to students in
advance of funding body entitlement
information?
Institutional arrangements are implemented immediately on
receipt of diagnostic evidence. A loan pool of assistive
technology including laptops, software and voice recorders
are available for students awaiting a DSA award or those not
in receipt of DSA.
