Is this course in any plan (major, minor or certificate) or sub plan (emphasis or concentration)? Yes No If yes, describe the impact and attach written responses from the affected academic units prior to college curricular submission. BSE Electrical Engineering. The proposed prerequisite change removing EE280 (a required course in the EE program) as a prerequisite but keeping EE325 as a prerequisite will not affect the EE program or EE majors at all, as EE325 (also a required course in the EE major plan, taught in Fall) remains a prerequisite. 7. Is there a related plan or sub plan change proposal being submitted? Yes No If no, explain. As explained in 6, removing EE280 as a prerequisite for EE348 will not affect the EE major program at all; the EE325 prerequisite remains for EE348. Revised 06/22/2011 8. Does this course include combined lecture and lab components? Yes If yes, note the units specific to each component in the course description above. No 9. Is there a course fee? This change will not affect the current course fee. No Yes 10. Justification for course change. A prerequisite of EE325 (Engineering Analysis II) is sufficient by itself. EE280 (Introduction to Electronics) is an older prerequisite that was needed when EE325 was EE425 and optional for students in the computer engineering sub plan. EE325 was later added as a prerequisite to EE348, because it covers EE280 material that is useful for EE348 and additional material needed for EE348. EE280 is thus a redundant and less appropriate prerequisite for EE348 than is EE325, and is proposed for removal as a prerequisite for EE348. The removal of EE280 as a prerequisite also facilitates EE transfer students arriving in the fall who take EE325 in the fall and EE280 and EE348 in the spring.
