2.14 Significant Activities and contributions made by IQAC

IQAC Committee coordinates with Academic Council, Staff Council, Sports & Cultural Committees to
maintain quality in all developments and activities implemented by the college.

The committee ensures that teachings and principles of Arya Samaj & DAV are properly implemented.

Regular feedback from students, parents and alumni is taken from time to time to ensure quality check
in all the areas.

IQAC keeps a check in providing scholarship, fee concession and books from book bank to needy and
meritorious students.

IQAC also ensures improvement & development in infrastructure and latest equipments for the
laboratories.

It motivates teachers to pursue their interest in research activities, seminars/ conferences and faculty
improvement programmes.

enhancement and the outcome achieved by the end of the year *

Academic calendar of the university was
followed in toto.
The college was successful in maintaining good
tradition in all the mentioned fields.
Psychology, Botany, Geography Departments
were renovated as per their requirements.

A second floor with a multipurpose hall was

3.26 Major Activities during the year in the sphere of extension activities and Institutional Social
Responsibility
NSS ACTIVITIES








Independence Day was organized with great zeal and enthusiasm in college premises. Dr. Mahender
Singh, Department of History delivered a lecture on independence and patriotism.
NSS unit celebrated the Sadbhawana Divas in Hansraj Hall on August 17, 2012. NSS Programme
Officers addressed the volunteers and talked about the importance of Communal Harmony.
NSS Unit celebrated International Literacy Day in the Library Reading Hall on September 08, 2012.
Principal, Dr. Rajesh K. Tomar addressed the students on how to educate the illiterate people for social
progress.
NSS Day was celebrated by NSS Units on September 24, 2012. NSS Programme Officers explained the
objectives and importance of National Service Scheme to the volunteers.
NSS Unit celebrated the Jayanti of Mahatama Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri on October 02, 2012.
NSS Programme Officers shared their views about Mahatama Gandhi and Shastriji. The volunteers
displayed their talents in form of reciting poems, skits and songs.
NSS Unit of the college celebrated Aggarsain Jayanti on October 16, 2012.
NSS volunteers performed their duties in Inter Zonal Youth Festival held in the college. They
performed their duties effectively to maintain discipline.
Republic Day was celebrated in the college with great zeal and enthusiasm. Flag was hoisted in the
college campus. Dr. V. K. Garg and Sh. J. C. Noonia delivered lectures on Constitution of India.
 NSS volunteers celebrated the “Sampardaic Sadbhawana Pakhwada” from August 20 to
September 03, 2012 and gave the message of spreading communal harmony in the society.
 NSS volunteers observed the World AIDS Day on December 01, 2012. NSS volunteers
organized and participated in a rally to create awareness about AIDS.
NCC ACTIVITIES
 NCC Cadets celebrated World Heart Day on September 28, 2012.
 On August 15, 2012 cadets participated in district level parade in Mahavir Stadium Hisar.
 Cadets Mandeep Sodhi, Vikas Sharan, Nisha Sharma and Sarina Bishnoi got selected in PVSC
I and II held at Patiala. Mandeep Sodhi won silver medal in AERO modelling and Vikas
Sharan won silver medal in flying in PVSC I and II held at Patiala.
 CadetsVikas Sharan and Mandeep Sodhi were selected for AIVSC held at Banglore.

5.1 Contribution of IQAC in enhancing awareness about Student Support Services

IQAC creates awareness about student support services through various committees, cells, by regular
notices, prospectus, college magazines and through announcements during various functions in college.
5.2 Efforts made by the institution for tracking the progression

Through informal interaction with the outgoing students, it has been observed that nearly 40% students
go for higher studies while some of them pursue their Bachelor in Education. A sizable number of
students opt for Banking and other related exams. A Few of them choose to get self employed.

A Lecture on ‘Female, Family and Fitness’ and ‘How Media Effects Nutritional Status of Young
Girls’ was delivered by Dr. Sangeeta Sandhu from CCS HAU, Hisar on March 14,2013. She
discussed the nutritional deficiencies and also guided the girls on how to adopt healthy diet chart to
cover all the needs of body.

Life Sciences Association organised a Lecture on ‘Female Foeticide’ by Dr. Shakuntala Kharab,
Asst. Director, Haryana Technical Education, Panchkula on August 18, 2012.

6.2 Does the Institution has a management Information System
The college has a very transparent system in which all the planning and decisions are intimated to
the higher authorities like Director General Higher Education, Haryana, Kurukshetra Universities
and DAV College Managing Committee, New Delhi. Within the institution various committees
and bodies like College Advisory Council, Staff Council, Academic Council, and IQAC etc. are
constituted which take every decision related to the welfare of students & staff.
6.3 Quality improvement strategies adopted by the institution for each of the following:
6.3.1 Curriculum Development
The Curriculum is designed & decided by Board of Studies of different subjects and Academic Council
of Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra in which our college teachers play an active role as members,
Board of Studies and members Academic Council.
6.3.2 Teaching and Learning
1. Academic Calendar of University is followed.
2. Regular classes start by beginning of session & entire syllabus is covered by the end of session.
3. Well planned delivery of teaching material with the help of latest teaching aids.

5. Teaching in the college basically aims at self sufficiency, employability, overall personality

6.3.3 Examination and Evaluation:Examination & evaluation process is followed as per University guidelines.College teachers have a
very transparent system of conducting class tests and assignments at the internal level. Weak points
of students are intimated to them so that they can make improvements.
6.3.4 Research and Development
The college provides congenial atmosphere to the faculty members to actively participate in
seminars, conferences and research activities.
Similarly students are also encouraged towards research activities by participating and organising
exhibition, conferences and project works.
6.3.5 Library, ICT and physical infrastructure / instrumentation

Developing additional classrooms and laboratories as per the strength of students.
Internet facility is developed and upgraded regularly in library, departments and
administrative block.

To make an approach where everybody feels involved in the functioning of college.
The work is decentralised by assigning it to various committees.
Optimum work is distributed among the members of teaching, non teaching faculties and
student volunteers to utilize the human resources available to maximum.

Regular recruitment is done as per the guidelines of U.G.C, Director General, Higher
Education, Haryana and Kurukshetra University by DAV College Managing Committee
New Delhi. Additional required faculty is recruited through proper system on contractual
basis.

Students from various departments are sent for visits to industry, IT & banking sector & various
research Institutes as per requirements of their curriculum.

FEEDBACK ANALYSIS
Most of students have shown stronger agreement with content and the methodology adopted by the
teachers. They have shown dissatisfaction to some extent with canteen facilities provided. They have
also shown resentment with the delayed results.
Parents on the whole are satisfied with the academics and other extra activities that are provided to
their wards in the college. However some of the parents feel that hostel facilities need improvement.

Department of Chemistry organized Inter-College poster making and paper reading contest on
October 22 , 2012.

Aarti Sharma (B.Sc, 5thsem), Anjali Soni (B. Sc, 5thsem) and Vinita (B.sc, 1st sem) participated
in District Level Science Essay writing competition held at Government PG College, Hisar on
September 14, 2012. Aarti shrama and Anjali Soni were selected for state level competition
held at HARSAC, Hisar on January 23, 2013.

A 15 minutes programme on ‘Museum of History Department’ Dayanand, College, Hisar was
telecasted by the Doordarshan Hisar on October 20 -21, 2012 on the occasion of ‘National
Heritage conservation week’.


College organized Director General Higher Education Haryana sponsored inter district science
exhibition on January 29-30, 2013 in which models of science subjects prepared by the
students of various colleges exhibited.
Twinkle of (B.Sc. final) and Aarti Sharma of (B.Sc. IInd) participated in district level science
exhibition organized by Department of Higher Education Haryana at Government College
Hisar on October 19-20, 2012. They presented a model on “STARS: THE MYSTERIES OF
UNIVERSE”. Twinkle got prize of Best explanator.
COLLEGE FORUM EXTENSION ACTIVITIES (2012-2013)

The students of B.M.C. (Ist, 2nd and 3rd year) visited Doordarshan Kendra, Hisar on March 18,

pollution on February 25, 2013.

STUDENTS ORGANIZED/INITIATIVES

The Annual Exhibition ‘Haryana-History & Culture’ of Department of History was
organized from March 28, 2013 to April 4, 2013. Dr. K.C. Yadav, Director, Haryana History &
Culture Academy inaugurated the programme.

SOCIAL INTIATIVES TAKEN BY STUDENTS
1.
Under the supervision of NSS Programme Officers, the volunteers planted about 200 saplings
in the college playground and around the stadium.
2.
NSS unit of the college prepared the slogans related to AIDS and made posters to create
awareness among the people about AIDS on September 18, 2012.
3.
Life science association organized an Inter-Class Poster making and Slogan writing
competition on Female Foeticide, Dowry system, Reducing Male/Female Ratio, Woman
literacy and Child Labour on October 5, 2012.
