Digestion and MotionFOOD FLIGHT Project
Directions: Create a letter from the point of view of a particular
food of your choice and describe in detail your experience/journey
being digested through the digestive system in a letter format.
Address your letter to another “Food Friend.”
Requirements: 1. Each step of your journey through the digestive
tract should be explained thoroughly and written on separate
index cards, with a corresponding illustration on the back. Be sure
your diagram has each part of the digestive tract labeled.

Requirements continued: These cards will be attached in order using a spiral ring. 2. Be
sure to use at least 10 or more vocabulary terms within your journey, which are clearly
used appropriately within context. Therefore, you MUST use CONTEXT CLUES, allowing a
reader to INFER the understanding of these terms.
Resources: With your partner, you will begin your summaries of the digestive process
to assist you in your project by viewing “How the Body Works” and “How the Digestive
System Works” videos on www.youtube.com; also found on www.kidshealth.org (a great

Write your summaries for each stage using the “Summary Boxes” Graphic
Organizer. Pace your work as we further explore our unit.
