Purpose of entry
My love for PR stems from its ability to change perceptions and build
brands’ personas and reputations. This passion has seen me hold positions
at two leading communication agencies and successfully manage big
brands including Nike, BMW, MINI and Amadeus.
Within only two years I have gone from an intern to an account manager
responsible for the creation and delivery of integrated communication
strategies targeted at varied audiences and seamlessly rolled out across
multiple communication channels.
Measurable Achievements

Selected
for
a
ten-month
internship
at
Fleishman-Hillard,
subsequently hired as an Account Executive.

Managed global crisis reporting for Nokia.

Managed all media relations for the Nike Run Jozi campaign:
o Secured 140 journalists to cover and run the inaugural 10km
race.
o Generated over 180 pieces of coverage, achieving an overall
AVE value of R 3 114 877 (at a 1:1 ratio).

Managed online influencer engagement campaigns for BMW and
MINI.

Joined Cerebra as an Account Manager and currently run integrated
social and traditional media communication for Amadeus, Invenfin,
Demographica and GIBS.

Launched a full service offering for Amadeus Southern Africa
encompassing media communication, Facebook page, YouTube
channel, company blog and newsletter.
Impact of Achievements
I have gained invaluable experience working with multiple clients across
various verticals. I have moved from influencing target markets through
media engagement, to delivering strategic communication to build, engage
and activate communities across digital and traditional channels.
Through delivering integrated strategy, content, and campaigns, that
underpin client’s objectives at every stage, I have realised that PR is not
one-way messaging, but rather engagement with communities.
Feedback and stats, coupled with analysis, yields valuable insight that can
have a direct influence on further development and refinement of
communication strategy and clients’ brand objectives.

Brittany Preece – “Up and Coming PR Professional”
Brittany started working at Fleishman-Hillard as an intern in February 2011.
She started working in the consumer portfolio assisting across a range of
clients including BMW, Nike and Nokia. Brittany settled into the company
immediately and was willing to take on whatever tasks were handed her
way,
and
she
did
them
to
an
extremely
high
standard.
She was a pleasure to deal with, thoroughly professional in her approach
to her work and her clients which resulted in her forging solid relations
with media within a short space of time.
Brittany played prominent roles in several important client events including
kit launches for both Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns, the
BMW/Springbok sponsorship announcement and the inaugural Nike Run
Jozi event which was deemed a huge success.
Brittany built up the confidence early to handle client requests directly and
proved efficient in dealing with media, and did so to a high standard. It
was clear from the start that Brittany would become an asset to FleishmanHillard and had the potential to forge a successful career as a PR
professional.
Brittany is highly professional, conscientious, and always possessed a cando attitude to work. She was a hard worker, was happy to listen to advice
and eager to learn. She was helpful and was always eager to help and to
get involved.

My first interaction with Brittany came during her time at FleishmanHillard, where she worked on the Nike and Solae PR accounts. My first
impression was that she was a young PR practitioner who had a solid
understanding of the basics of good PR and implemented them well in her
work with clients and media. Her approach to relationship building with a
new media contact was professional and targeted. At no point during our
interactions did I feel she was trying to sell me a story or angle that didn't
benefit the content of my publication or my readers. In the few face-toface engagements we had with clients she once again conducted herself in
a manner that belies her maturity as a PR professional. I therefore have no
doubt that she has the skills, passion and capabilities to build an illustrious
career in the PR industry based on solid media relationships and good PR
ethics.

To Whom It May Concern:
My name is Ryan Scott and I work as the gear editor for Runner’s World
Magazine, FHM and Sports Illustrated.
During the time that Brittany Preece worked on the Nike account with
Fleishman-Hillard, I was fortunate enough to have her as my direct contact.
Brittany was outstanding in always helping me out with my needs when
requesting gear items to review, making sure I had them on hand as well
as having access to all the information I needed.
I found Brittany to be pro-active and anticipatory in making sure I was able
to experience the Nike products. When I was fortunate enough to attend
the events (product launches and Nike 10km Run Jozi event), I was
extremely impressed at the seamlessness of all that went with that
experience. Travel, comfort and feeling very much a part of the Nike family
were all facilitated in the most efficient, yet seemingly relaxed manner
while Brittany attended to the many aspects of working on such a huge
event as the Nike 1Okm Challenge.
Brittany’s knowledge of the brand she was working with, the client and the
media (me) always had me, not only happy to work with her, but
constantly looking for more brands that she worked with to try and have
the same ‘service’ from such an impressive representative.
