• Week 7 Internet Regulation Internet Regulation is a group of different branches that all have specific tasks in regards to the internet’s functioning to ensure it runs smoothly. After researching I found that there are 6 different entities involved with keeping the internet functioning with limited problems. Including the internet society, the internet architecture board, internet engineering task force, InterNIC, PFIR-People for Internet Responsibility, and ICANN,org. Week 7 Internet Governance I have found that Internet Governance is the development and application of shared principles, norms, rules, decision-making, as well as the programs that help to create the evolution and use of the internet, as defined on Wikipedia. This governance have established tasks with the Internet Society. The tasks include domain names, internet protocol, root name servers, and standardization. All of these tasks help to manage the internet to keep it up and running. • Week 8 EDx I looked into what EDX was and found that it is actually an online site, not-for-profit enterprise that was founded in fall 2012 offer online university-level courses of different aspects free of charge for a large audience. This site in strictly designed to create a new online learning experience. • Internet Protocol Addressing Internet Protocol Addressing is the numerical labels found on device, such as computers and printers that use Internet Protocol for communication. This Internet Protocol Addressing serves in two roles. These roles are both host or network interface identification and location addressing. The common IP Addresses used today I found to be the IPv4 and IPv6, and can be static or dynamic. • IPv6 • IPv6, the newest version of internet protocol, is known as the primary communication protocol that the entire internet is built. Each device that has access and use of the internet has this internet protocol (IP). The device must be assigned a number known as the IP address. After researching I have found that IPv6 is actually the first publicly used version of internet protocol. Net Neutrality Net Neutrality is the principal that promotes government advocacy to the regulation of internet service providers. This net neutrality principle works to prevent restrictions on content, sites platforms, types of equipment that may be attached and modes of communication. Some opponents of net neutrality say that broadband servers have no plans to block content or degrade network performance. Windows 8 Is the current release of the Windows operating system, produced by Microsoft. Primarily this system is focused on improving its users on mobile devices such as such as tablets or other rival operating systems, while also taking advantage of new emerging technologies. Routing Autonomous Systems These systems are a collection of Internet protocol routing prefixes under the control of one or more networking operators which present a common clearly defined routing policy to the internet. These RSA’s in the routing system had exceeded more than 5000 in 1999, which has increased drastically when compared to that of 2012 when it exceeded 42,000. Privacy Privacy is defined as the ability for an individual or group to have the rights to exclude themselves or any information about themselves and therefore reveal themselves secretly. There are numerous forms of privacy one example is in terms of physical privacy which deal with the intrusion upon another’s personal space. Border Gateway Protocol The Border Gateway Protocol was created to replace the Exterior Gateway Protocol. BGP is a particular protocol that makes core routing decisions on the internet. BGP makes route decisions based on path, network policies and/or rule-sets. Spam Spam is the term primarily used to describe the unwanted bulk mail that often finds its ways to your mailbox via the web. Things such as advertisements etc. are normally sent to be placed as spam. Although the most widely known type of spam is used via emailing, things such as wiki spam, social networking spam, and mobile phone messaging spam etc. are also involved with receiving these bulk texts. MOOC MOOC which stands for the Massive Open Online Course is the type of online course that is primarily aimed at large-scale participation and open access via web. There are two key feature involved with making MOOC useful these two features include open access and scalability. Open access when involved with MOOC allows for no need for being registered in school to take a “MOOC” and as for scalability MOOC suggests that the course is made for support of and indefinite amount of people. Security: From what I have researched security is defined as the Standardization: This is the idea of a process of developing degree of protection in order to safeguard a nation, union of nations, person or person against danger, damage, loss and crime. Security, although compared to numerous other terms, has to take into account the actions of those who are attempting to cause the destruction. and implementing technical standards. This is most widely used when companies release new software to the market or products. Standards can be de facto, de jure, and voluntary. De facto meaning followed by an informal convention or dominant usage. De jure which is stated to be part of legally binding contracts, laws or regulations. And voluntary, pretty self explanatory, but is the term used for which are published and available for people to consider use. 2ed Half Homepage https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/vi ewform?pli=1&formkey=dEY4X09JdDBp WkJ2d0dSRU4yWVd0SFE6MQ https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/vie wform?pli=1&formkey=dEY4X09JdDBpWkJ2 d0dSRU4yWVd0SFE6MQ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1UpV3_EETrc&feature=sh are&list=UUB0h0uxBLS4VdBFEQxrIZVA
