FAU Faculty Advisor: All applicants enrolling for the Course BSC 4917 – Honors Research, in
FALL, MUST have a faculty sponsor before being admitted into our honors research program. The
faculty sponsor should write an e-mail to Rebecca Dixon (rdixon@fau.edu) stating that they are
willing to sponsor the project of the undergraduate student by providing the necessary funding, as well
as, proofreading all written assignments through the Fall and Spring semester. Any questions about the
program should be directed to Dr. Evelyn Frazier (efrazier@fau.edu) or Dr. John Nambu

find a professor in your area of interest. Contact the professors directly to see if they are taking new
students.

DEADLINES AND REQUIREMENTS FOR COMPLETED APPLICATIONS:
Students WITH Faculty Sponsorship AND Enrolling for BSC 4917 – Honors Research (FALL): DEADLINE: July
20th Requirements: unofficial transcript indicating a completed or enrolled in DIS within Biological Sciences in the
previous summer semester), statement of purpose, completed application form, email from faculty sponsor agreeing to
sponsor the student, and a 10 minute powerpoint presentation given by the student on their research proposal.

receive an e-mail before Fall classes start stating whether they have been accepted into the Biology Honors Program.

In order to apply for the Biological Sciences Undergraduate Honors Research Program you must meet
the following requirements:
1. Minimum GPA 3.0
2. Core Course Requirement
1. Biodiversity + Lab
2. Biological Principles + Lab
3. General Chem + Lab (I & II)
4. Organic Chem I
5. Calculus
6. Noonburg Stats or Exp Design + Stats
3. At least 25 credit hours in upper division (3000&4000)
4. 1 DIS in progress or completed in Sponsors lab by the application deadline (for students who
have faculty sponsors).
