Landform Project due April 16, 2015 Project Assigned on 2/23/16 Landform Projects: Given By Mrs. Berens 1. Pick a landform, national park or a biome. It can be a mountain, volcano, river, ocean, valley, plain or etc. It can even be a place that you have been to on vacation. (Biomes to choose from: Rain forest, Temperate Deciduous Forest, Savanna, Grassland, Tundra and Desert. Provide me 8 detailed facts about one of these environments.) 2. Have 7 detailed facts in your project. Each fact should be about 1 paragraph (5-8 sentences). The paragraphs should be in your own words, and not just copied from a source. Please define words that may be unknown to the class because you will need to present your project. (Example of a detailed fact: Kilauea is a volcano in Hawaii. It is located on the Big Island near the southeastern side. It is the youngest volcano on the island. Some rocks from Kilauea have been estimated to be about 23,000 years old. Even though it is a young volcano it has changed the landscape of Hawaii dramatically. It has been erupting since 1983, building up the land of Hawaii. It shows no sign up stopping and will continue to shape the land.) 3. Include at least three pictures or drawings of that landform, biome or national park. 4. The information can be shared in 4 ways. You only need to choose one way to present your information. Option 1: A PowerPoint Presentation- PowerPoints must be emailed to me (lberens@isd622.org), or saved on a flash drive. Option 2: A Coat Hanger Mobile- Decorate a coat hanger with facts about your landform, biome or national park. Use ribbon or string to hang your facts. You must have 7 detailed facts in your project. Each fact should be about 1 paragraph (58 sentences). The paragraphs should be in your own words, and not just copied from a source. Please define words that may be unknown to the class because you will need to present your project. Option 3: A Poster Board with Information on it. You must have have 7 detailed facts in your project. Each fact should be about 1 paragraph (5-8 sentences). The paragraphs should be in your own words, and not just copied from a source. Please define words that may be unknown to the class because you will need to present your project. Option 4: Students can make a tri-fold brochure The Project will be a tri-fold brochure. The teacher will provide the paper for the brochure. It must be folded properly. The brochure has 6 sides and each side requires specific information about the landform. Follow the directions carefully. Download a copy of the template from Mrs. Berens’ teacher page and type your information directly into the template. You can email the completed brochure to me to print. Page 1: Title, Picture, Name, and Date Page 2: Detailed fact and picture Page 3: 2 detailed facts Page 4: Detailed fact and picture Page 5: 2 detailed facts Page 6: Map to show location of the landform. ** Brochures should be colorful, creative and appealing to the eye. Please check spelling and grammar. There should be no white blank spaces on the brochure. 5. You will need to list the source or sources that you used to collect your information. (You will only need the website address or the title of the book used with the author’s name.)Turn in your list of sources on a separate sheet of paper.
