We will discuss the seven major SPC tools to identify improvement opportunities, reduce variability and eliminate waste: (1) Histograms, (2) Check Sheets, (3) Pareto Charts, (4) Cause and Effect Diagrams, (5) Defect Concentration Diagrams, (6) Scatter Diagrams and (7) Control Charts. BIO: Michael Valiski, Northern States Metals Mike is a Quality Engineer at Northern States Metals. He received his B.E. in Industrial & Systems Engineering at YSU in 2003, his SSGB through IIE in 2010 and ASQ-CQE in 2010. Experience Tom received his BS in Mechanical Engineering from Cornell University. He is a Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt and holds certifications with Kepner-Tregoe Problem Solving and Decision Making, 8D Team Oriented Problem Solving, and ISO 9001:2000 Internal Auditing. Tom’s prior professional experience includes roles in engineering, quality, and operations management. Since 1986, his consulting practice has focused on developing skills for organizational excellence. Clients include United Airlines, University Hospitals, Cox Communications, Ohio Saving Bank, St. Ives- USA, Mallinckrodt Chemical, Pierre’s Ice Cream, Parma General Hospital, Northern States Metals and the Cleveland Indians.
