TITLE: My Pyramid Tracker & Build a Personal Profile PRESENTER: Michele Crawford-Program Assistant Perspectives High School of Technology DATE: May 3, 2011 TIME: 6:00-7:00 pm My Pyramid Tracker is an online dietary and physical activity assessment tool that provides information on your diet quality, physical activity status, related nutrition messages, and links to nutrient and physical activity information. The Food Calories/Energy Balance feature automatically calculates your energy balance by subtracting the energy you expend from physical activity from your food calories/energy intake. Use of this tool helps you better understand your energy balance status and enhances the link between good nutrition and regular physical activity. TITLE: How To Understand & Use Nutrition Food Labels PRESENTER: Michele Crawford-Program Assistant Perspectives High School of Technology DATE: May 5, 2011 TIME: 6:00 -7:00 pm How do you know if a food item is high or low in sugar? Trans fat? Salt? Through this tool, you will learn how to read the label to assure that they are selecting healthy foods which provide a good source of vitamins, and minerals and are low in fat, salt and sugar. Knowing how to read the label is key to making healthier food choices. TITLE: Analyze My Plate PRESENTER: Michele Crawford, Program Assistant Perspectives High School of Technology Date: May 10, 2011 Time: 6:00 -7:00pm Use this tool to examine what you eat. Learn how to create healthy meals and add a variety of colorful vegetables and fruits. This tool addresses breakfast, lunch and dinner. TITLE: Budget Tips PRESENTER: Sonja Henson, Program Assistant Perspectives High School of Technology Date: May 12, 2011 Time: 6:00 -7:00 pm Learn to calculate an appropriate healthy food budget for your family, based on USDA’s low- cost food plan. This easy-to-use calculator, offered by Iowa State University Extension, helps to create a budget for what is a reasonable amount to spend to feed your family healthy meals.
