Scott, and Karen M.
b. 5/8/13 deadline to meet separately; develop questions for decision on Go/No Go.
Determined not to be feasible, need to talk to other groups who have hosted about
contacts for how to go about this. Meeting pushed to 5.15.13 after the SEI Conference and
PE Examination
c. June 2013, BOD Strategic Planning Session, need to inform Section by meeting.
d. Greg Scott is available for discussion of ERYMC.
Past-President’s Report: Thanks for a great 3 years!
a. “I am not going to disappear. I will not pull a Kristin Smith!”
President’s Report
a. Look for upcoming emails for end-of-year housekeeping. Timely response required.
b. Elections – online successful, a few issues with current dues paying members. Main issues
were from people trying to vote who weren’t Pittsburgh Section Members, or who were
over 35. To determine if you are a member:
i. Log on to Nationals to see
ii. Call Nationals to see
iii. Just email Missy
Allowing people to vote online did NOT increase voter turnout at all. Total number was 3035. Action should be taken to determine what decides as “active” member.
c. Email amayer@kuresources.com for interest in committee chairs.
d. Region 2 Joint Activity – no update
e. Strategic Plan – no update; random 30 people selected for survey; responses to guide plan.
Where would you like to see this organization in five years?
1
1. Do we advertise membership enough? Should we increase college
interaction? Are we doing a good job of showcasing a wide variety of
activities? Ask for level of effort of other groups to see if this is a factor.
2. We do not utilize PR very well. Consideration should be given to advertising
outside of our comfort zone.
3. 2018 is the Anniversary of the Pittsburgh Section and there is currently no
formal plan to celebrate this milestone. At the minimum, there will be a
black tie Gala. Other sections have done things such as a commemorative
book, a float, a tablet app for our bridges. Texas managed to raise $250,000
[but the Texas section is the entire state].
4. Potentially establish a National Bridge Museum as part of the 100 year
anniversary.
9. Vice-President’s Report

Summer months are better for this event. Avoid the guide provided. Contact pghbridge.org to see
