is packed with the latest information on Kilkenny Arts Office activities, county events as well
as news and opportunities for arts practitioners from around the country.
We have decided to shorten information included in the e-bulletin for easier use. This
should particularly work well for those reading off tablets and smartphones.

'Decius Mus' Tapestries
The 'Decius Mus' Tapestries have returned to the Castle. The Tapestries are among the great
glories of the wonderful historic Ormonde Collection at Kilkenny Castle. It forms a highlight
of the Ormonde Collection in the Tapestry Room and fabulous Picture Gallery - one of the

What’s happening in the Watergate?

Three new Arts Internships in Offaly



Film Commission Assistant: The intern will be based in Tullamore (Offaly County
Council) and will work on promoting Offaly as a location for filmmaking, please see

Youth Arts Co-Ordinator: The intern will be based in Tullamore (Offaly County
Council) and will work primarily on the following projects, Offaly Youth Theatre,
Hullabaloo Children’s Arts Festival and Music Generation, all programmes are aimed

Call for Curators, Gallerists, and Art Directors for Get Together
2014
Get Together 2014 is now in full planning mode. It will take place on Friday, May 23rd in
IMMA and will include the usual wide range of activities that artists and arts organisations
have come to expect of the day. We have places available for 7 galleries, museums, or
similar venues who may wish to have their art director or curator participate in what is truly
a frantic and frenzied event.

There are two new awards for 2014 in the RDS Student Art Awards; the RDS Lens-Based Art

students completing their studies in 2014.

VFX: Script to Screen Call for Applications 2014
VFX: Script to Screen aims to inspire the creative film community in Europe to push the
boundaries of VFX and develop new and innovative stories for audiences in Europe and
globally. Through case studies, lectures and course work, the programme will provide
participants with a broad overview of managing projects with VFX elements at all budget
levels

Brewery Lane Poetry Competition 2014 is open for entries!

The judge this year is Richard Hayes, Head of the School of Humanities in WIT. Some people

The Éigse Award
The Éigse Award of €4000 for Visual Arts will be presented for the ‘most outstanding work in
any medium’ at the Opening of the Carlow Arts Festival on Friday 6 June 2014.

Exhibition of children’s book illustrations arrives at Stormont
Pictiúr, an exhibition of work by leading children’s book illustrators from Northern Ireland
and the Republic of Ireland, is paying its first visit to Northern Ireland with a two-week visit
at the Parliament Buildings in Stormont.
Pictiúr is the largest single exhibition of children’s book illustrations ever assembled across
Ireland, and is curated by Laureate na nÓg (Irish Children’s Laureate), Niamh Sharkey.
