Sometimes you may need to have more than one sentence for a word in order to show that you understand the meaning of the word. Here is an example for you to use as a guideline. Ex. doleful means sad Bad=== The little boy was doleful. The reader cannot tell if the boy was tall, funny, happy, etc. Better but not great=== The little boy was doleful when his dad died. The reader cannot tell with certainty whether or not the boy was happy or sad. Awesome== The little boy was doleful when his dad died. He pouted and cried everyday. The reader can definitely tell that the boy is sad (not happy) because he pouted and cried. Pouted and cried are clues.
