Your involvement, as an Instructor for Northwestern CT Community College students, is to get the students into KeyTrain, assign students to a class, and assign lessons. After that, it is merely a matter of monitoring student or class progress. The following is a quick guide for Northwestern CT Community College instructors and faculty. The intent of this guide is to get you “up and going” with KeyTrain. To fully utilize the capabilities of KeyTrain, log onto www.keytrain.com and click on Support. The following KeyTrain manuals are provided online as .pdf’s: Guide to KeyTrain Administrator Manual Student Manual KeyTrain Course Outlines Career Skills Instructions Career Skills Checksheet Northwestern CT Community College Page 5 QUICK GUIDE FOR NCCC INSTRUCTORS ADD STUDENTS TO KEYTRAIN Students can not self-enroll; you must enter them into KeyTrain and give each student his/her username and password. Enter the student’s username, which by Northwestern CT Community College convention, must be preceded with ‘NWCC’ (don’t use NCCC as this may be confused with Norwalk CC). It is highly recommended that the student’s banner id also be used to create the username. A good example of a student username might be: NWCC10023145 - where the student’s banner id is 10023145 5. Enter the student’s password. The password must be at least 6 characters long. Reenter the password. 6. Click Submit to complete. It is recommended that you do not assign the student to a Group at this time. Groups are useful for large volume reporting, tracking, and archiving, but can have permanent ramifications if you are not aware of how the Group feature works. Refer to the online KeyTrain manual for a full description of how to use Groups with your students. 7. It might be a good idea to print the login instructions now (one for you, one for your student). 8. You now need to assign the student to a class. Assigning a student to a class is not required, but is recommended. Not assigning a student to a class simply means that you must assign lessons and do reporting individually, by student name.
