EU CHIC Portal
•
The portal (www.eu-chic.eu) was launched on March 2010. The portal and forum are
administered by Z-Z, leader of WP6, and the Project Coordinator UL. Subsequently, Z-Z
launched an additional Restricted Members Area to accommodate all documents, drafts and
materials required for the Partners within the project (http://www.chiceu.net). The EU-CHIC
portal enables internal communication amongst all CHIC partners (through the restricted part)
and the visibility of the project progress and its communication amongst stakeholders. No
confidential deliverables are loaded into the public part of the website, which displays other
relevant documents and details of events. In addition, a forum open to the
•
Advisory Network is a way to exchange information and criteria regarding
•
the EU CHIC Identity Card concept.

Task 6.1 Development and implementation of Awareness and
Dissemination Plan (Leader: SKB, Partners: Z-Z, BBRI, ITAM,
LABEIN, NTUA)
An awareness and Dissemination Plan containing different kind of
activities will be prepared and deployed along the project and beyond.
There are four objectives of the dissemination plan: to ensure
maximum impact of CHIC within and outside the project consortium;
to inform the research community about the results; to disseminate
the project results and the identity card concept within key European
stakeholders in conservation; to contribute to the awareness of the
importance of Cultural Heritage conservation within the Society.
Tasks
A detailed identification of the stakeholders beyond the consortium, and
the general and particular message for each of the collectives at
national, European and Third Countries level will be performed. Main
collectives to be considered are: Owners and managers of Cultural
Heritage buildings; Architects and other prescription bodies; Restoration
enterprises (specially SME’s); Related NGO’s; scientific community;
Laboratories and technical assistant bodies to conservation; European
and International Associations of networks related to Cultural Heritage;

Standardisation Committees, mostly CEN/TC 346.
Another effort of the plan will be to disseminate methods and activities

Very intensive discussion
took place at the end of
January 2011 in Ljubljana
when this outline came out
1st Workshop Vienna
• In line with the EU-CHIC DoW, the 1st Workshop took place in Vienna,
Austria, on 29 April 2010. The first part of the workshop was given by invited
lecturers Mr. Wilfired Lipp (ICOMOS), Mr. Douglas Pritchard (Glasgow
School of Art), Mr. Chis McGregor (Historic Scotland), Mr. Stewart Kidd (Loss
Prevention Consultancy Ltd) and Mr. Christian Poehn (City of Vienna). It
focused on presentations offering particular views regarding documenting
cultural heritage and related issues, as anticipated by relevant organisations
and end-users. The second part of the workshop was an implementation of
Task 2.1 of WP2, prepared by partner Tecnalia
• The Workshop programme invited relevant experts and users of collections
(members of Advisory Network and other networks relevant to CHIC) to
discuss their experiences and knowledge. In addition it considered how to
learn from their experiences in the development of data collections, and how
to assess the most usable and interesting strategies, concepts and tools of
Identity Card models for future assessment of the EU CHIC directive.
D6.4. Proceedings of the 1st Workshop
• Since the Workshop proceedings will be e-published, the project
management decided to invite EU-CHIC and AC partners to
prepare more detailed presentations of the most Illustrative
cases of the relevant national documenting
systems/methodologies in order to complement Deliverable 6.4,
and to help publish a highly relevant and informative Workshop
Proceedings for distribution to a large number of interested
stakeholders. Material from the Workshop 1 was collected and is
the basis for Deliverable 6.4. This gives detailed descriptions of
the work done at the 1st Workshop, and has detailed overviews
of the current state of the documentation systems of Cultural
Heritage objects in 9 countries (Croatia, Czech Republic,
Greece, Israel, Italy, Netherlands, Poland, Slovenia and Spain).
Good examples of the methodologies used in those countries,
presented with their advantages and disadvantages, are
described in detail.
D6.4. Proceedings of the 1st Workshop
• This material can also be used by WP 3 (Task 3.1 Research and

D6.2. Awareness and Dissemination Plan
1. EU CHIC – what is that? What do we consider to be the end
product of the working process? What will be the core
content of this product?
2. Who is the end user of EU CHIC?
3. Why and how should the possible end users be forced to
adopt EU CHIC?
4. What is the economic relevance of the sector and what are
possible conclusions to the EU CHIC product and to
dissemination strategies?
5. What are the conclusions to the dissemination strategy of
EU CHIC?
D6.2. Awareness and Dissemination Plan
6. What are the duties of national heritage
authorities?
- What do NHA need to cover their duties?
7. Are there other institutions next to NHA to
be supportive promoting EU CHIC? Are there
any on-going activities on European level to
be supportive?
8. What are outstanding test cases of
European built cultural heritage to be
supportive in promoting EU CHIC?
D6.2. Awareness and Dissemination Plan
9. What are the advantages or disadvantages being listed in
the UNESCO World Heritage List?
10. Is the European Heritage Label a useful alternative?
11. Concluding: What is the USP of the European Heritage
Label?
• Concluding:
• What is good for disseminating EU CHIC is good for
promoting EHL. Outstanding monuments listed to EH
should serve as test cases for EU CHIC and EU CHIC
is supposed to serve as a tool monitoring sustainability
of these objects thus linking actual EC R+D results
directly to the tourism strategy.
