Your homework will always be due at the beginning of a class period. Make Up Work If you are absent, consult the make-up work folder (on the back bulletin board) for a summary of class activities and any materials you need. If there is nothing in the folder, ask Miss Keeney. It is YOUR responsibility to make sure you have everything you need and to complete the work. You will have the number of days missed to make up any missed work. The exception to this rule is concerning major tests, writings, or projects whose due dates have been announced in advance. Missing a day does NOT exempt you from turning in a major assignment or taking a test on time. If you are ever concerned about completing an assignment by the due date, talk to Miss Keeney before the due date! Supplies You will need the following supplies for the class and are expected to bring them to class every day: pens and pencils, highlighters, lined paper, and a folder or binder. Website You will have electronic access to much of what is done in class through the classroom website, as well as the Spring Board site. You may be asked to submit essays and other projects online, and you may be required to post comments or respond to questions on the website. General Rules 1. RESPECT EACH OTHER. This is something that I demand from each and every one of my students. Respect requires empathy, the ability to listen to others, and an overall willingness to appreciate the company of those around you. 2. RESPECT THE CLASS. During the class period, you should be totally focused on your work for this class only. You must be fully engaged in class discussions and activities in order to be successful; not being attentive is disrespectful to your teacher and your peers. 3.PARTICIPATE! Class participation affects your overall grade and is essential for doing well in my class. Our class is discussion-based and simply cannot function without your valuable input. 4.PLAGIARISM IS UNACCEPTABLE. Do your own work. Plagiarized work will earn a ZERO. 5. ELECTRONIC DEVICCES ARE NOT ALLOWED without permission. NEVER assume it is ok to have your phone or other device out in class. Contact Information I am available during SRT to assist with anything you may need. Please do not hesitate to ask for a pass. If necessary (especially when you’re working on project or essays), I may also be available before or after school. If you should need to contact me at any time outside of school, my email is crkeeney@avonschools.org.
