Educational Cycle for Crossover Bible Fellowship Regeneration Youth Ministry Prayer and Biblical Imperatives Prayer Prayer Plan: o Pray weekly regarding request submitted by youth o Pray during regular prayer time for ReGen youth and workers o Monthly prayer meeting/call with ReGen workers Biblical Imperatives Acts 11:21-24 - And the hand of the Lord was with them, and a large number who believed turned to the Lord. The news about them reached the ears of the church at Jerusalem, and they sent Barnabas off to Antioch. Then when he arrived and witnessed the grace of God, he rejoiced and began to encourage them all with resolute heart to remain true to the Lord; for he was a good man, and full of the Holy Spirit and of faith. And considerable numbers were brought to the Lord. This passage speaks to the Mission of the ReGeneration youth ministry. We pray the hand of the Lord would be with the ministry, and that we would rejoice as we witness God’s grace working through the ReGen. The ReGeneration youth ministry strives to encourage youth especially in faith and devotion to Jesus, that they might participate in bringing others to the Lord. Romans 12:2 - And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect. This passage encourages youth to walk in their sanctification and no longer try to live according to the standards of the world. We aim to teach the word of God and equip youth so that they live with renewed minds Psalm 119:9-10 - How can a young man keep his way pure? By keeping it according to Your word. With all my heart I have sought You; Do not let me wander from Your commandments. (General) This scripture explains that abiding in God’s word, seeking God with all his heart and keeping Him at the forefront of his mind is the only way for a young person to keep his way or life pure. We aim to teach youth the value and reward of living with the intent to stay pure before God. 1 Psalm 71:5-6 - For You are my hope; O Lord GOD, You are my confidence from my youth. By You I have been sustained from my birth; You are He who took me from my mother's womb; My praise is continually of You. (General) This passage will encourage youth to have confidence in the Lord as did David, realizing that He has kept them and if for no other reason, He is worthy of their praise. God shaped us from the beginning. He has taken care of us since conception and through birth. He has a divine purpose for our lives and should look forward to and trust God’s truth in our lives. We aim to teach and challenge the youth to have faith in the Lord. Psalm 71:17-18 - O God, You have taught me from my youth, And I still declare Your wondrous deeds. And even when I am old and gray, O God, do not forsake me, Until I declare Your strength to this generation, Your power to all who are to come. This passage will encourage the youth to actively learn of God and serve Him through reaching their generation. We are to keep the faith and hold dear to the word of Lord. We aim to teach them to desire to serve God all of their days. Psalm 144:12 - Let our sons in their youth be as grown-up plants, and our daughters as corner pillars fashioned as for a palace. This verse states that God wants our young men to be healthy in mind and body, planted in the soil (His word) and not easily moved. Our daughters are to support and be as pillars shaped by God’s word w/strength to endure during any situation – beautiful-strong yet unmovable. We want to disciple our youth to spiritual maturity so they are able to stand and continue the work of spreading the gospel and disciple others. Jeremiah 1:5-8 - Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; before you were born I sanctified you; I ordained you a prophet to the nations. Then said I: “Ah, Lord God! Behold, I cannot speak, for I am a youth.” But the Lord said to me, “do not say, ‘I am a youth’, because everywhere I send you, you shall go, and all that command you, you shall speak. Do not be afraid of them, for I am with you to deliver”, declares the Lord. (General) We want the youth to know that their existence was no mistake. In a world full of people seeking the meaning of life in diverse ways, this passage explains how God has a purpose and plan for them. Therefore, they should not be afraid to stand for Him and fulfill that purpose, nor fail to depend on Him to make it so. We desire them to be bold in Christ regardless to the task, situation, or outcome. Our focus is for His will to be done and to bring Him glory in the end. 2 Proverbs 22:6 - Train up a child in the way he should go, even when he is old he will not depart from it. (General) It is a great necessity for a child to receive biblical teaching (setting the foundation). If he has the word of God in his heart his chances of straying from the word are greatly lessened. This requires parental involvement in the spiritual rearing of their children. We will communicate our ministry goals and teaching schedule with parents so they can co-labor with us in their child’s spiritual growth. Eccl. 12:1 - “Remember also your Creator in the days of your youth, before the evil days come and the years draw near when you will say “I have no delight in them”. (General) The above passage is a call and warning for youth to have a personal relationship with God now and not be deluded by erroneously thinking they can pursue God when they’re older. In order for them to “remember” the Creator in light of this scripture, the youth ministry needs to ensure biblically sound teaching is provided to the youth. We will guide them through scripture and explain who God is and what He desires of His people according to scripture. Titus 2: 4-5 - “…so that they may encourage the young women to love their husbands, to love their children to be sensible, pure, workers at home, kind, being subject to their own husbands, that the word of God may not be dishonored. The bible includes gender and role-specific responsibilities for believers. As a ministry we must teach the younger women godly character so they may biblically fulfill their future position of wives and mothers should God will so. 1 Pet 3:3-4 - “Your adornment must not be merely external – braiding the hair, and wearing gold, jewelry, or putting on dresses; but let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the imperishable quality of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is precious in the sight of God.” As a ministry we want to encourage our young ladies to not focus on physical appearance, but to exhibit internal qualities the Lord values. Col. 1: 9b-12 - “We have not ceased to pray for you and to ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding so that you will walk in a manner worthy of the Lord to please Him in all respects, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God; strengthened with all power, according to His glorious might, for the attaining of all steadfastness and patience; joyously giving thanks to the Father who has qualified us to share in the inheritance of the saints in Light.” These verses emphasize the following: the Lord’s overall will for His people; the attitude ministry leaders should have for those they are serving (never ceasing to pray 3 for them); and observing positive spiritual results and a result of discipleship and sanctification (filled w/ knowledge, bearing fruit, walking in strength with steadfastness and patience while praising God for his salvation). 2 Thes 2:8 - “Having so fond an affection for you, we were well pleased to impart to you not only the gospel of God but also our own lives, because you had become very dear to us.” Ministry leaders must always maintain the proper attitude and motivation in service. As Paul loved the Thessalonian church and gave of himself in service to them, so should we to the youth. We gain nothing by offering mere activities, but instead want to foster personal relationships with each young person involved in the ministry. We desire to be a family. Core Values Teens - ReGeneration Youth Ministry values teens from the ages of 13-18 (or graduating high school, should they turn 18 before graduating) and understands they have unique needs, desires and concerns. This ministry will focus on youth from the ages of 13- 18. We believe God can today, as in times past, use youth to affect change in the lives of their peers, and positively impact the body of Christ and the world at large through God's ordained purpose for their lives. Education - ReGeneration Youth Ministry values the education of teens in the Scriptures. We believe proper growth in knowledge of the Scriptures is essential to developing a proper view and adoration of God which will enable them to declare His wonders first in their youth and throughout their lives. Salvation - ReGeneration Youth Ministry understands that salvation according to the scripture is necessary in order to have a right relationship with God the Father. It is our heart's desire that they know what salvation is and walk in that freedom. Transformation - ReGeneration Youth Ministry values transformation in the lives of teens to the image of Christ. We believe this occurs through a renewed mind resulting in sanctification and discipleship. We pray that the culmination of these core values will result in a “ReGeneration”. That is a generation that is Repentant (Mark 1:15) Reborn (John 3:16), Redeemed (Galatians 3:13), Reconciled (2 Corinthians 5:21; Romans 5:10), Renewed (Romans 12:2), Resistant (James 4:7), and Respectful (1 Timothy 1:17, Ephesians 6:2) 4 Mission The ReGeneration Youth Ministry seeks to encourage youth to trust in the Lord and renew young minds unto transformation to the image of Jesus Christ. ReGeneration Youth Ministry is designed to develop and disciple godly teens based on God’s word and prayer so they can be a godly witness and influence on their family, peers, the Body, and the world by focusing on their biblical salvation, education, and transformation. Environmental Scans, Goals and Objectives Environmental scan within the church We have a group of youth which consists primarily of African Americans. The girls have been the most active segment of the ministry. Some of the youth are from single-parent homes, blended and adopted families Some of the youth are struggling with sexual purity and social acceptance. Youth are from Cy-Fair ISD, Klein ISD, Spring ISD, Spring Branch ISD and some private middle schools and high schools. The youth are from lower to upper-middle socioeconomic class. Environmental scan within the community The church is physically located in a middle-to-upper class northwest Houston. The immediate community is made up of Black, White, Indian-Americans, Hispanic, lower economic-class to upper middle –classed Vision We envision youth to be saved and filled with the knowledge of God’s will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding; walking in a manner worthy of the Lord; pleasing Him in all respects; bearing good fruit and increasing in the knowledge of God; strengthened by His glorious might, being steadfast and patient; and thankful to Him since by His grace they are saved. Goals and Strategies To help Crossover youth own their own bible (NASB) o Phase 1: Have an inventory of bibles for students without bibles to use during Wednesday night services. (This is an attempt to get them acclimated to having a bible during bible studies.) o Phase 2: After offering bibles for a period of time, we will encourage youth to begin bringing their own physical bibles to bible study. (We 5 will discourage the use of electronic bibles downloaded to cell phones.) o Phase 3: We will identify youth that are financially unable to purchase their own bibles and appropriated funds to purchase a bible for them. The recipient has to be an active participant of the youth ministry and have a hunger for growing spiritually. This does not rule out members of the youth team personally purchasing a bible for the students. Every quarter have a youth event. o Holiday Fellowship/Outreach: December 2012 o Pure Way Confab March 2013 – “Conference” with relevant topics for youth and parents. We will have a musical artist and/or Christian comedian, (2 Speakers – youth and parents). o KAA July 2013 (Pre -register begins October 2012) o Back to School Rally Wednesday, August 23, 2013 Have a Wednesday night youth bible study o We will have regular Bible Study meetings with one Wednesday per month devoted to prayer and ReGen Training Camp (Christian basics) Sunday youth service o These Sunday services will be solely dedicated to the youth. If a youth choir is established, we can designate this service for them to sing. Either a member of the youth ministry or guest speaker will preach/teach the Word. o 2nd Sunday 5:30PM Establish and maintain Shepherd Groups. Shepherds (ReGeneration leaders and selected LOL members) will have a group of 3 – 5 youth. They will correspond with them weekly, even outside the CBF settings, to study the Bible, pray with/for, and disciple youth in their groups. *LOL participants will shepherd one youth Identify and develop core group of teens (those who show a hunger and thirst for the Lord as shown through their faithful attendance to bible study and events designed for the youth) to disciple them on a more personal level. o Crossover youth who are involved w/ Christian organizations at their schools can put us in contact w/ the group sponsors for opportunities to be involved through teaching or mentoring. Build school calendars from the youth so we can support their extracurricular activities. Program and Curriculum: ReGeneration Youth Ministry will write its own curriculum via a collaborative effort between the Youth Pastor and youth ministry teachers. Our curriculum will be the Word the God as it is the power of His Word that changes lives (John 17:17); and we desire our young men and women to be spiritually mature as they will carry on the word and the work of Jesus Christ (Psalms 144:12) 6 Programs: As listed above in our Goals and Strategies portion of the cycle, the below are the programs we prayerfully plan to carry out within the October 2012- December 2013 calendar year: o o o o o o o o o ReGen Training Camp Ruth Series Romans Series Survey Based series Revelation Series (Tentative) Confab - March 2013 (tentative) KAA - July 2013 Quarterly Lock-ins Holiday Fellowship: December 2013 CALENDAR o Lock-in - Friday, November 02, 2012 o ReGen Holiday Fellowship December 15, 2012 o Lock-in - Friday, April 05, 2013 o Lock-in - Friday, July 05, 2013 o KAA - July 22-28, 2013 o Pure Way Confab - March 14-16, 2013 o Back to School Rally - Wednesday, August 21, 2013 o ReGen 5th Quarter - 2nd and 4th Fridays 2013(Jan-Apr;Sept-Nov) Methods and Materials: Regeneration Youth Ministry will use a classroom format during Wednesday night bible study nights.
