Emergency Medical Services Program Course Syllabus – Trauma Emergencies Module Nine: Special Considerations & Operations This course will add to the foundation necessary for the student to perform within a limited advanced life support system and/or to continue on to Paramedic course. In this module, the student will learn how to treat emergencies in the obstetric and pediatric populations. Then finally the module will conclude with ambulance operation COURSE GOALS The course content is set forth by the DOT/NHTSA curriculum and meets the State of Michigan standards. After completion of this course the student will have a thorough understanding of traumatic injuries. The student will be able to: The student will be able to understand the anatomical differences within the pediatric populations. The student will be able to successfully assess and manage the pediatric and obstetric patient. The student will be able to discuss ambulance operations as it pertains to the field of emergency medical services COURSE ASSESSMENT Student learning is assessed from multiple perspectives and on multiple occasions in order to ensure that instruction is fostering high-quality learning from the first to the last day of the class. Students will be assessed by objective exams, lab reports and demonstrations. McLarenOakland EMS faculty staff is responsible for designing evaluation instruments to measure student mastery of course goals.
