PROJECT STRATEGY & CREATIVE
Excelsior Experience Web Project Phase 1.0
Job #s CW-10323-13
What are we doing?
What is the specific assignment(s)?
We are creating a centralized location of information that provides users with a better understanding of what they can
expect from Excelsior College. Users will be able to explore information about Excelsior broken out by specific topics or
find information relating to a personal need or question they have.
Specifically the idea is to offer content and tools to users so that they can make a decision about Excelsior. Content can
include but is not limited to:








Program information (including demos & tutorials)
Course and Exam information (including demos & tutorials)
Testimonials (students, alumni, faculty)
Supporting multimedia (animated video, etc.)
Application information
About Excelsior overall and our resources/services
Cost and Financial Assistance options
Credit transfer policy
By offering information in a ‘managed’ or ‘unmanaged’ way we’re able to incorporate noteworthy content
that is relevant to specific needs of the user when and how they want to see it. In doing so, we’re generating
more interest by demonstrating an understanding of what drives true user interaction. This will result in more
inquiries with metrics/data to support them.
Who are we doing it for?
Who specifically will be making the decision (or influencing the decision of) attending Excelsior and what understanding do we have that will make
them receptive to our message?
This new section will be most relevant for our prospects/inquiries who are in the exploratory stage of selecting a college.
Other audiences may also include prospects/inquiries in the decision-making stage selecting a college for degree
completion or to transfer to.
2
What’s our position?
What is the single distinctive characteristic that this offer has that makes Excelsior appealing and/or what is the most important takeaway that we
want to convey?
That Excelsior College is one of the leading higher education institutions and has a number of programs that are
designed to help you achieve your educational goals. We’ll emphasize key points of differentiation including our flexible
transfer credit policy, our dedication/personal attention support services, our ability to optimize a path for a student
that connects with a target career objective. This will solidify that the ‘Excelsior Experience is more than just an
education.’ With us, you get more than you expect.
What’s the message/creative?
What do we want to tell him or her?
This is where we’ll showcase the two paths that a user will be able to select from and the flow of
messaging/content that will be shown as a result of that selection. Content will be shown in a visually
compelling way with headlines that speak to specific user objectives and snapshots that trigger interest with
links to find out more. ‘Quick links’ will also be provided throughout the experience to content located in other
places throughout the main website for more information.
*All copy (H1, H2, Body, Multimedia) will contain SEO keywords and metadata.
**For Phase 1 of project we will point users to MyExcelsior to register to receive follow up information. In
future phases we will look to add more data capture options outside the firewall.
EXCELSIOR EXPERIENCE MAIN page – Key Messaging
The page will provide introductory information about Excelsior College and how we’re positioned to partner

We’ll then highlight that we’d like to help ‘you get started finding more about Excelsior’ and how we further
assist you. To do so we can either help you ‘find an answer to a question’ (Managed) OR help you ‘explore
what Excelsior has to offer’ (Un-Managed).

Excelsior Experience Proposed Widget for L3 Pages
L3 Pages are existing web pages that we are linking to from the Experience to close the loop.
This would be in side navigation bar likely. The purple boxes represent a different tab that is highlighted on the widget and the
content that could live on that tab. NEW SIDE BAR TREATMENT IN PROGRESS – WILL ADD WHEN FULLY SCOPED.
