SXSW ANNOUNCES 2012 COMEDY LINEUP
Austin, Texas – February 20, 2012 – South by Southwest (SXSW) Comedy is excited to announce its 2012
lineup with events running from March 10–17, 2012 in Austin, Texas. This year, SXSW Comedy expands to eight
days and nights, with more shows, venues, and performers than ever before. Programming includes showcases
with leading comedy presenters, live tapings of podcast favorites, panels in the SXSW Interactive Festival, daily
shows on the SXSW Next Stage and other special events.

SXSW Comedy Showcases
SXSW’s acclaimed stand-up comedy showcases return, now covering eight straight nights beginning on Saturday,
March 10 and running through Saturday, March 17. Some of the biggest names in the industry will join up-andcoming acts from across the country:
Film and Interactive Fest Showcases
The first four nights of comedy showcases are open to registrants with Platinum, Gold, Interactive and Film
badges. Showcases include:
Saturday, March 10
Comedy Bang Bang // 8 & 10:30 p.m.
For the fifth consecutive year, Scott Aukerman brings his expertly curated stand-up showcase, a cornerstone of
the Los Angeles comedy scene, to SXSW.
Sunday, March 11
The Cast of Bob’s Burgers Live // 8 & 10:30 p.m.
FOX’s Bob's Burgers celebrates its upcoming second season with a live show featuring acts from cast members.
Monday, March 12
Funny or Die presents The Super Serious Show // 8 & 10:30 p.m.
Web comedy powerhouse Funny or Die and Caviar Content host an installment of its live, multi-media Super
Serious Show, which blends stand-up, sketch and video clips.
Tuesday, March 13
UCB Comedy presents: All-Stars of Improv // 8:00 p.m.
The best improvisers in the country come together to put on an irreverent show made up on the spot, featuring
performers from the acclaimed theater’s Los Angeles and New York outposts.
Tuesday, March 13
UCB Comedy presents: The Best Damn Stand-up // 10:30 p.m.
Pete Holmes and Gabe Leidman lead a line-up of established and up-and-coming comics from all around the
country, featuring Chris Gethard, Joe Wengert, Eliza Skinner and more.
Music Festival Showcases
With its fifth year of programming, SXSW Comedy, continues to showcase a diverse range of performers, from
headlining acts to comics just breaking onto the national scene -- and those who are about to. Showcases during
the last four nights of Comedy are open to all attendees with Platinum or Music badges as well as wristband
holders.
Presenters include Gotham Comedy, Laugh Button Live, TuneIn and Brown Paper Tickets.

WTF with Marc Maron // 4:00 p.m.

Comedy Bang Bang with Scott Aukerman // 6:00 p.m.
Scott Aukerman (Mr. Show, Between Two Ferns) hosts an episode of his flagship Earwolf show that blends

celebrating the not-always-fun parts of doing comedy.

Earwolf presents: Sklarbro Country with Jason and Randy Sklar // 6:30 p.m.
The Sklar brothers present a sports show with a refreshingly comedic bent, tackling pop culture and music news
along with scores and recaps.
Saturday, March 17
Earwolf presents: Who Charted? with Howard Kremer and Kulap Vilaysack // 6:30 p.m.
With two weekly broadcasts, Who Charted? welcomes guests to count down and comment on new music and film
releases.
SXSW Comedy on the Next Stage
SXSW Comedy presents four special events in the afternoon on the Next Stage, located in the SXSW Trade Show
and open to all registrants, March 12-15.

Stag Comedy // 4:00 p.m.
Austin’s Stag Comedy presents a blend of sketch and video, delivering humor that's witty and unafraid to get a
little weird. Their original stage show tops the list of Austin's best comedy acts.
Tuesday, March 13
RISK! // 4:00 p.m.
Kevin Allison (The State) encourages his guests to “tell true stories they never thought they’d dare to share in
public” on this fearless storytelling show.
Wednesday, March 14
UCB Comedy presents: The Chris Gethard Show // 4:00 p.m.
The man who got Diddy to appear at UCB NY brings his unpredictable cable access show back to the stage, with
a panel of comedians and weirdos through absurd games and challenges.

Stand Up! Records // 4:00 p.m.
A curated showcase from the indie comedy label that promotes smart, eclectic and politically-minded material.

A Carlin Home Companion // 5:00pm (Ogilvy Day Stage)
Through storytelling, classic video footage and family memorabilia, Kelly Carlin, the only child of iconoclastic
comedian George Carlin, chronicles over forty years of her life with her famous father.
Thursday, March 15
Set List with Paul Provenza // 11:30 p.m.
Troy Conrad and Paul Provenza’s acclaimed show puts a spin on the traditional stand-up showcase: comics are
handed never-before-seen topics as they step up to the mic, promising an improvised and completely
unpredictable show every time.
Friday, March 16
Legend with Reggie Watts // 11:30 p.m.
Comedian/musician/genius Reggie Watts will present his original score to Ridley Scott's Legend, featuring music,
spoken word and his trademark wit.
Friday, March 16 - Saturday, March 17
The Benson Interruption // 8:30 p.m.
The wildly popular live show turned Comedy Central favorite returns to SXSW. The hugely entertaining concept
is simple: Benson brings his favorite comedians onstage to perform then interrupts them with stream-ofconsciousness additions to their bits.
Friday, March 9 - Tuesday, March 13
Comedy-focused panels will debut as part of the SXSW Interactive Festival, exploring topics from technology to
the artistic process. Panels will be held at the Austin Convention Center, and will be open to all Interactive, Gold
and Platinum Badgeholders.
